Re: Anthony Bennett (out for the next 3 weeks)

gosh i wish this guy were healthy right now. it'd be a perfect time for him to get some valuable playing time.

i really believe AB will be a nasty dunker in the near future. i could see him posterizing some dudes. we've seen glimpses of his dunking ability this season. he'll only get better.

That's fantastic, but I kinda want to see him make smart plays and be productive on both ends and on the glass.

Re: Anthony Bennett (out for the next 3 weeks)

Nothing major:
INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Cavaliers forward Anthony Bennett is headed home to Toronto to address a family health matter, the Cavaliers said Tuesday. Bennett will therefore not travel with the team for its game Wednesday at Orlando.

Bennett, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, has missed the previous 11 games with a knee injury. Cavs coach Mike Brown said Tuesday that Bennett remains sidelined and there is no timetable on his return.

"He did not practice with us today," Brown said. "He was in the back with the medical team and C.J. (Miles) and Carrick (Felix)."

The 6-foot-8 forward was working with an assistant coach at a side basket after practiceTuesday, putting up short jumpers and moving around slowly. With only seven games remaining in the regular season, Bennett's return seems doubtful, but the Cavs have not made an official determination.

"I don't know if we need to make that determination," Brown said. "I don't think it's necessary. I think he just keeps working, and if he's able to get back in the mix, he's able to get back in the mix."

Bennett is averaging 4.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in 51 games.

The Cavs (30-45) are three games behind Atlanta for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Disappointing year for AB, safe to say he wasn't ready for the NBA. He better work his ass off this offseason or he will truly get stamped as a bust.

soo im guessing you only watched the first 200 or so minutes of his career?

bennett seems to have taken a year "off" between college and the nba. Too good to not make money in the nba but also not ready. I think it will be a trend of the future, having to wait a few years to get something out of most of these one and dones

Bennett was ready for the NBA. Had the skills and physically he could more than hold his own against NBA guys. Mentally he wasn't all the way prepared but the same could be said for most kids coming into the league at 19,20,21 years old.

He struggled this year as a result of the Mike Brown effect (clouded role and having to worry about quick hooks after every little mistake) and because he came into the season hurt and out of shape. Not entirely his fault as he couldn't do much activity while recovering, from what we've heard, but he does shoulder some of the blame for being in such poor shape. Should also blame Chris Grant and Mike Brown for how they handled the whole situation.

All in all, I feel like AB was definitely ready for the NBA. He was just a victim of being put in a bad situation with unfortunate circumstances. Next year I really see him looking like the player we thought we drafted out of UNLV. A floor spacer at the POWER Forward position.

Or I watched every game..

Mentally the kid is immature and was not ready for the grind of the NBA. Yes he had surgery and wasn't active (just a sorry excuse tbh), but he came in 30 pounds overweight and could stand to lose even more. He showed progress throughout the year, but don't forget he was the #1 overall pick and was expected to make a big impact on the growth of this team. Instead he made little to no impact and was a major point of this disappointing season (thus far).

Don't get me wrong I love the kid's game and his potential, but he still has a lot of work to put in. Hopefully he hangs out with Tristan this summer who will be sure he doesn't slip on working hard.

Rofl. Yea, he really lit the league on fire after those first 200 minutes.

He very clearly was not ready for the NBA. Physically, mentally. All facets.

His summer league is going to be the most scrutinized summer league for a player ever.

rofl, youre a doofus

he put up more than respectable numbers after he was a bum for the first x amount of games and got more than 5 minutes of burn per 48

Well there is a reason he was getting inconsistent minutes. I thought you didn't watch the games Dave?

Good point about Summer League Rich. That'll be very interesting. I hope he works his ass off this summer, he has a lot of work to do. He did show a glimmer of hope before his injury, hopefully he can build off of that and come into next year playing closer to his potential. Not saying he will, but I wouldn't be surprised if this time next year we are talking about him for Most Improved Player. The tools are there, he just needs to take advantage of them.

yes, the white phil jackson, mike brown. He has been awesome at developing talent and not showing favoritism.
