Anthony Bennett

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So here's the real question...

Do the Cavs view Bennett as a SF or a PF at this moment?

Bennett is and likely always will be a tweener. He is somewhere between Carmelo Anthony and Josh Smith..

Hes a PF. An athletic/nonrobotic version of Tristan

No way in hell hes a small forward so i dont see how hes a tweener..i know its semantics but thats my opinion

So you're saying that Bennett's offensive game is limited to offense-stopping, awkward face-up plays and put-backs? Bennett is 10x the offensive player that Tristan is, and he could very well be better on defense and rebounding when all is said and done, too. Their body types aren't even remotely close either. Not a very good comparison at all.

What part of athletic/not robotic did you skip over?

edited to be less abrasive

You can be athletic and fluid and still perform awkward, head-scratching offensive moves like Tristan does in the sense that they stop the flow of offense. Ok, so with your comparison, now Bennett stops the ball on the baseline, holds the ball for 3 seconds with some jukes thrown in, drives in fluidly and athletically and gets his shot blocked. That's a more athletic/nonrobotic version of Tristan.

And you still didn't answer how he's like Tristan. Both physically and skill-wise, they aren't even remotely similar.

they both havent proven they are good. they are both power forwards. they are from the same neighborhoods. bennett is more athletic and more fluid.

these are facts that backed up my stated opinion, so please continue to attack me

edit- Im not a fan of TT by any means, i think he blows. But to be perfectly honest, bennett hasn't showed that he is any better. I think he will be eventually, hence giving him the edge in athletecism and fluidity. Why arent you attacking Gour for saying hes like Carmelo or Josh Smith? He sure as shit isnt one of them either

An opinion I happen to agree with. I guess because he's not 6-10, 270, he's viewed as a "tweener," because it certainly isn't based on his game on either end of the floor. Especially defensively, he looks like a fish out of water on the perimeter, but one of the pleasant surprises for me was his ability to defend PFs. I'm not saying he never looked overmatched (Greg Monroe had his way with AB), but even when he was being overwhelmed by an offensive stud, he never looked out of his comfort zone the way he did with the SF experiment. The NO game in particular, I thought he probably had the most success of anyone on the team defending Anthony Davis.

On the other end, again... PF all the way. That's where his advantages are. He can stretch an interior defense with his shooting and his athleticism/quickness could be a challenge for 4s to deal with. You move him to the 3, and suddenly his strengths are neutralized.

The more I watched each of them play this season, Bennett looked to me like our eventual starting PF and Tristan looks like a backup 4/5. If anything, TT is the tweener... A body for PF, but a game more suited for the center position.

He's not mobile or fast enough to be a SF in my opinion and unfortunately at this point perhaps a bit too slow mentally for the SF spot as well. This kid seems like a nice guy, decent worker, but needs things to be kept simple. Boozer / JJ Hickson simple.

Honestly, I don't care where the front office decides to play him but that decision needs to come early and be given some time to stick. If the kid's not Einstein, don't make him learn two positions, let him get decent at one. When they asked him what position he was playing and said he didn't know this season, that was a major face palm for the organization. The best thing about Bennet? He set the bar SO low as #1 pick that if he were to average 10 pts 6 reb consistently next year, it would be a massive improvement.

This situation will clarify over the next 12 months as:
1. Andy goes into the last year of his deal. If AB is playing well next year, AV could be dealt
2. The Tristan extension dilemma.
3. Who we draft.
4. How well he plays. If he comes in and dominates summer league, who knows?

But to me, he's a stretch four with some drive and finish ability whose main problems are in his head and not his game.

I'm not attacking you. An attack on you would be calling you an idiot, for example. That would be an attack on you. I'm not calling you names or anything or belittling you. I'm attacking your argument. Don't take it personally.

Anyhow, I'm not talking about skill levels. I'm talking about their skill sets. They're completely different. Their body types are also completely different. There just isn't much to compare other than they're both pretty decent rebounders. TT is actually the better player for now, but I suspect Bennett will surpass him soon.
