Anthony Bennett

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's weird that he's so young, but this feels like the crossroads for his career path: he can either crumble beneath the criticism and eat his way out of the NBA this off-season, or he can take it upon himself to prove the haters wrong. He definitely has the talent, it's just a matter of understanding the game and getting more comfortable with the ball in his hands. I'm still really high on him and expect him to be up for Most Improved Player next year, and, at least, supplant TT as our starting 4.

He gets a pass from me for being freaking 19 and being coached by a guy who is notorious for not playing young players and just for the immense mess we were this season.

If Spurs draft Bennett I think hes a better player. No way we can blame too much on Bennett when im sure we didnt even have an offense before the all star break.

We can blame him for his horrible % tho but it did seem to improve. He also showed some around the rim scoring talent even when he wasnt shooting well.

I expect him to go all out next season and he makes TT expendable if he happens to play good

He turned 21 last month.

Something interesting the think about:

We no longer have as hardass as a gm like Grant anymore, meaning the change this off-season will be atomic. Bennett may be a casualty of this if we manage to land our surefire big man. Tristan may be naturally a part of the same deal.

So what do you guys think? Better than 50% he moves based on the front office or less to give him yet another chance? I mean, how much does the front office favor this guy?

I will admit Porter was my guy during the last offseason, but I'm glad the Cavs picked Bennett over say... Len. I still think Bennett is going to be a better player in the long run. Of course that depends on the Cavs not effin' his development up.

I was hard on him from the start of the season after seeing how much weight he put on but I always had this sneaky feeling he's gonna be a solid player once he loses the weight and is given minutes.

Part of me agrees with you. I think he will always have his limitations but he was easily one of the top few picks from that abomination of a draft, so you can't fault CG. People think I fail to realize that and it certainly isn't the case.

The thing that gets me is when people act like he is the second coming when he isn't even a serviceable player yet. No hes not a stretch four, no he isn't better right now than tristan, and no he doesn't have elite handles.

Could he eventually? Of course.

My post summed up where he stands now and points to the massive road that lies ahead. If he has the mental fortitude to dig himself out of this 12 ft grave it could actually end up as a huge benefit to his mental makeup in the long run.

Couldn't imagine a much worse rookie season. His first half of the season was the worst I have ever seen a player play in my life. He did show signs in the 2nd half. Unfortunate he got injured.

How this kid looks coming into next season is everything IMO. If he comes in fat and out of shape, fuck this guy. Trade him for anything. If he comes in looking like Dwight Howard, at least it shows he is taking this shit serious.

He's put some of his muscle back on since leaning down. He must've taken the opportunity to gain it back after getting injured.

If he's built like a brick shithouse now, just wait until next season.

I'll be waiting for Cosmo and Rich to tell us that the Cavs used the cool 3D graphics from Z's retirement game to hide a trampoline in the key for Anthony Bennett to jump off because it's impossible for him to jump like that.

...............

The season speaks for itself. But hey, a dunk. Best fucking rookie of all time I guess.

I mean look, you guys, you've fully bought in and nothing is going to change your minds right now. Fine. Someone will be proven right by next season. All I can say is that through season 1, I've been right about Bennett and you haven't.

Bennett really runs the floor like a FREAK of nature and he is going to be so explosive...can't wait for him to prove my friends and the country wrong
