Anthony Bennett

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I guess I interpreted your post differently, although I wasn't alone. Here's the paragraph in question:

"I've seen countless raw players with a "great work ethic" amount to nothing in sports. Our own Tristan Thompson will be brought up, I am sure, to counter your point here as he is an example many of us are currently exposed to. Banking on someones potential is how you get in trouble in sports. Potential is also not current fact."

I guess you could say you don't include Tristan among the countless raw players you mention immediately before him.

Even then, you're still using Tristan as an example (in regards to Nerlens Noel) that a player that can't develop an offensive game even after displaying they have the work ethic to do so. Still completely disagree with this.

The key is right there. I was just letting him know what to expect from people around here.

I think next season will be a good one for Bennett developmental wise and he becomes reliable scoring off the bench. at the 4 and 3.

You honestly think Bennett will "develop" fast enough to play two positions off the bench next year, let alone one?
I saw some glimpses of real potential from Bennett when he was playing PF last year. When he was at SF he looked so bad, he looked like someone that shouldn't even be in the league.

I think Bennett is the best fit with Embiid on the roster. U'd have 2 real athletic guys up front, one with range, and one pure paint player. Hopefully Bennett's rookie season was an abberation. Hard to believe he's the worst player ever.

Bennett didn't really know what to do at times when he was on the floor with Hawes. With Embiid defaulting to the post, Bennett can take the high post or wings.

We need this kid to man up and be a contributor next season. He has the skills, he just needs the proper mindset..

I would be curious to learn more about his offseason workouts up to this point. If he has been lazy, then I I have no hope, but if he is having a Dion type offseason, I am pretty exctied. Summer league could be fun this year, if AB and the #1 pick both play.

I agree, although some would say that we shouldn't consider "fit" at all when drafting. Personally, I think we're at the point in the rebuild where we have to start considering fit, else we're going to end up with a lot of pieces/parts that simply don't fit together on the court. Griffin himself said that we have to improve fit, so that's encouraging.

Knowing what we have in Bennett would be of enormous help in this draft, and it's frustrating how much we still don't know. IF Bennett can become that dynamic scorer at the 4 that we were hoping he'd be when drafted, the pieces/parts all start falling into place a lot more easily. A lineup of KI/Dion/3 and D/Bennett/Embiid has championship potential down the road. You'd have scoring threats in the backcourt and frontcourt, good rebounding, and plus defense at the 3 and 5, including rim protection. That's assuming you think KI/DIon are a long-term fit. I personally don't, but this really isn't the place for that debate. But if you're fine with those two guys, the rest of the pieces are all there without a major acquisition outside the draft.

But if Bennett can't give us that, then we're still short of scoring at the 3/4, and Parker/Wiggins would be legit candidates to fill that need.

If you consider "Fit" important, then Bennett is key unknown in the entire equation.

Has any footage of off season workouts with a fat guy chasing him with a broom been leaked yet..

There were times when you said "okay, that was nice" but unfortunately there just wasn't enough of those, but then again there wasn't a whole lot of minutes, until Dan and Griff basically forced Mike to play the kid.

That's just wrong...
-At the beginning of the season there was pressure from Gilbert to have AB play right away...big mistake.
-Later in the season, it was Chris Grant that met with Mike after the Phoenix game near the end of January and told him Bennett was ready and to start playing him. Gilbert and Griff had nothing to do with that.

I know he just got his tonsils out, but any word on how he's doing so far this offseason? Keeping in shape? Working with Jamahl Mosley (if he's even still on the Cavs payroll) or anyone else from the organization?

This is such a stretch. You could literally place any name in for Hawes and the same holds true, and replace at times with "the majority of the time" We absolutely should not be basing this pick by who AB fits best with.

I still think he will turn into a decent player. He obviously had major confidence and game shape issues. Once he is over that hump it will be night and day for him, and he fits nicely next to Embiid/Kyrie/Dion. Get a 3D guy at SF and we are good for the next decade.

Bennett was such a failure last year that I am not even taking him into account when I imagine our core going forward. Just imagine what this team could do next year if we keep Kyrie,Dion, draft Embiid, and Bennett starts playing like a #1 overall draft pick. He could surprise us all with an off season of work and all the spotlight off of him. Man, wouldn't that be a fun line up to watch?

I'm looking for a big jump from him next year.
