Interesting. He basically said he cares very little about the measurables at the combine. He evaluates football ability by watching tape, and then uses the combine to evaluate personality, intelligence, drive, etc..

One thing I really like about him is that his messaging is so consistent, and I think that's just because he's so damn honest.

Complete 180 from Hue. It rarely seemed like he had a clue when he talked to the media whereas you can tell Kitchens is the type of guy that just gets it. He has a humbled intelligence to him that I find endearing.

The only consistent messaging to come out of Hue's mouth was throwing his own players and coaches under the bus.

You want to talk about a loaded coaching staff...

Check out the 2005 and 2006 Cowboys under Bill Parcells.

That one staff produced SEVEN NFL head coaches, one college head coach and two NFL coordinators.

-Current NFL HCs: Sean Payton, Anthony Lynn, Freddie Kitchens and Mike Zimmer
-Former NFL HCs: Todd Haley, Tony Sparano, Todd Bowles
-College HCs: Mike MacIntyre
-Coordinators: Kacy Rodgers, Paul Pasqualoni

That's as big of a skill for an NFL head coach as anything IMO. The ability to recognize and hire a talented staff while also being able to replace guys when they inevitably move on to bigger opportunities.

What's kind of funny is that those two Cowboys staffs only managed to go 9-7, 9-7 with all that coaching talent.

I believe they lost the Wild Card on Romo’s extra point fumble on the hold.

Parcells was the goat at developing coaches.

I think that when the Browns hit that inevitable patch where they give crap effort for a half or so, those guys are going to see a side of Freddie that will be extremely unpleasant.
Everything I’ve seen from Freddie affirms a conversation you and I had a few months ago...

I cannot see Freddie ever losing his cool, raising his voice, or yelling like a lunatic... he’ll just stop being jovial and it will be clear as day to the players. It’s just great leadership.

Actually, while I don't think he'd ever go into lunatic territory, I could see him raising his voice and losing his cool a bit if provoked. They'd have to really piss him off...but when a guy like that gets to that point, it's pretty awesome.

Yeah, sorry, I came off unclear. But that’s exactly what I meant. He won’t behave passive aggressively, won’t constantly yell at the players, generally be an understanding coach, etc., but when he gets really angry, it won’t take going into yelling lunatic mode to make his point. A louder, unjovial voice will be all he needs.
