Avengers: Infinity War spoiler thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just saw it, liked it a lot, had a lot of fun. Ending was gut wrenching but I'm glad it wasn't Iron Man or Cap.

That said I just got home, came straight to this thread, as someone who doesn't know anything about the comics or anything...these heroes are all coming back right?!
I’m guessing Heimdall, Loki and Gamora stay dead, because they died before Thanos activated the gauntlet. Of course, comics are ridiculous, and many MCU characters have already come back from the dead, so any of them can come back.

Spider-Man, Black Panther and Dr. Strange for sure are coming back. Most of the Guardians will, if not all. Either Bucky or Falcon will be the next Captain America, so at least one of them will.

I do hope at least some of them stay gone, or some of the survivors die bringing them back. Otherwise it ruins the stakes of this, I feel.

Gamora was killed by the Soul Gem, and she's in Soul World (likely with Adam Warlock) and Thanos is talking with her at the end of the movie -- that is her story after-all, she's spent a great deal of time with Warlock... I dunno if they'll have her fall in love with Adam, but, yeah... she's definitely still around.

Heimdall is likely dead for good; Loki is probably up in the air.

But anyone who was killed by the Soul Gem (+the Gauntlet) is likely in Soul World.

And remember, in the comics, Nebula eventually undoes EVERYTHING anyway -- which means she would be bringing back Loki and Heimdall as well.

Yeah, I agree. When Stark got stabbed I was sure he was a goner, and as my favorite hero I was pretty broken up at that moment. But of course he lives. When they said heroes would die I kind of expected actual deaths, not a plot device that could easily be explained as reversible in the next movie, but it was still crazy to see I suppose.

I expect that everyone taken in Le Rapture' de Thanos will be back as it is undone, but I expect everyone that dies in trying to reverse the The Snap will remain dead.

That is how most of the Avengers will go. Heroically and at the cost of their lives. Like Tony's vision.

Thanos knows this too. "You aren't the only one burdened with knowledge." Remember, in the end, Thanos always knows he is unworthy of victory.

I think Loki got away with another trick.

His body didn't revert to his true Frost Giant state. I think he purposely antagonized Thanos into "killing" him so that Thanos would just leave already leaving Thor alive.

Can someone explain when/how Loki is now a good guy? Last I remember in Avengers he was a reprehensible shithead. Saw bits of one of the Thor movies where he was a good guy suddenly, still no idea where it happened. Really don't want to watch all the Thor films.

Adam Warlock is in the birthing pod with the Sovereign. I don't think he's going to be involved in this at all.

Loki is neither really. Whatever is best for him is usually how he operates.

But, the other Thor films did demonstrate that he does, in fact, have some feelings for certain people. In Thor: The Dark World, it is revealed that he really loved his mother, who doted on him as a child and taught him magic, and was incensed when she was murdered. So he helped Thor get revenge on the man who killed her. Of course he later lied to Thor and tricked him into thinking he was dead.

In Thor Ragnorak he begrudgingly helps Thor save the Asgardians because Hela was trying to kill him, and because despite his differences with Thor, who he did try to betray again, he doesn't really have anyone else in the universe he could consider family.

That is why he saved Thor's life in Infinity War, and because he knew he would probably die anyway.

Saw this yesterday, and really enjoyed it.

This really brought me back to the first avengers and that feeling of excitement and pure geekdom as characters that hadn’t interacted before got to share screen time together. Dr. Strange playing off other characters was very good and it made excited for him to be the Tony Stark leader character of the next generation.

I also liked that while this very much felt like a part 1 it didn’t feel like that in a annoying sort of way. I was just left wanting more and excited for the next few movies to come out which I wasn’t really feeling before with any-man or captain marvel.

Future Adam Warlock, perhaps?

Personally, I thought this movie should have ended with Thanos beating Captain America to death. Would have been a much better moment than killing off a dozen characters who will probably all be back.
I was hoping for this as well. Maybe take a few forgettable characters like Roadie, Scarlet Witch, Mantis, etc......

I still wish phase 4 movies were more underwraps. Killing off spidey without knowing there was a sequel would have been epic.

Given his final words and actions....he needs to stay dead. It is a noble death for him.

As for Adam Warlock, he has to be saved for Gotg 3 IMO. The quest for the soul stone should be the focus. Let Gamora stay dead after the next one, Quill is in pain, and goes through hell to get her back. Part of me was hoping he would stay alive to see how he dealt with it in IW2.

Perhaps. But an older Warlock moving back to the past and dealing with the Infinity Gems is relevant to the Infinity storyline in the comics. He is such a huge part of the Infinity saga that I just don't know if they can leave him out completely. There are a number of ways they can introduce him in Captain Marvel or IW2 and still have his birth be a big deal in GOTG3.

Or I can see them setting up the newly born Warlock as the bad guy for a couple films before he changes sides and purges himself of evil, giving Marvel its next big film-spanning bad guy: The Magus (along with Doctor Doom of course).

And in ten years we'll get to see where Magus is headed and if an old friend pops up to stop him.

The MCU seems perfectly setup for Warlock to make his debut either before or during Avengers 4.

Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock makes sense... And knowing Warlock was originally considered to be part of Infinity War, I dunno if they would just cut him out of the entire story only to bring him about in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 -- seems like a massive waste.
