Battle for the AL Central Pt. III -|- Indians @ Tigers -|- Sept. 12th, 13th, and 14th

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Via Lastoria - the Indians are 9 for 18 in save opportunities in the 2nd half.

They'll have a shot at a second .500+ season. That's exciting.

...and lost again.

I'll give him that they've competed though. Team's looked good in stretches.

Didn't see it, but the box score was actually somewhat gutwrenching.

So I'd imagine it was pretty gruesome.

Still not eliminated, but they'll need another 10-12 game run again. Props to Kipnis for giving it to a shitty Cleveland fan.

I'm not a fan of Kipnis responding...shows it's getting to him (which is clear on the field as well).

Looking at his timeline, it also appears the guy drove to Detroit to cheer the Indians on. Like Kipnis, he was probably very frustrated leaving the game (I'm sure Tigers fans rubbed it in on his way out). I'm not saying what he said is OK, but I hated Kipnis responding to it.

Jose Ramirez comes up clutch yet again. 2-1 Tribe here in the sixth inning.

I'm really liking this kid.

Goodness...not again

Hasn't Shaw been used at a near record rate this season? I'm not shocked at this point.

CC Lee is terrible. He just threw a wild pitch on an intentional walk and let a run score.

Just... wow. I really have no words. Two games the bullpen has blown a lead. They could (and probably should) be 3.5 back in the division, and instead they are about to be 6.5 back.

Eh, the bullpen has been the team's strength all year and they would not have been in a position to challenge without it. I think Francona did a pretty damn good job managing a pen that had to make up for an abhorrent starting rotation for much of the year. If they blew it, well, that happens unfortunately. The starting pitching the last two days didn't exactly prop the bullpen up either by going deep into the game.

It was a good run at the end for the team and good for their development considering how young the rotation is. Sucks to be out of it but they were out of it much earlier than folks wanted to admit when the veteran anchors of the team were so subpar. You can only overcome so much with the young guys- especially when dealing with solid but certainly not star prospects. Just sayin'. Hopefully we see more run now down the stretch for guys like Aguilar and what they can do. Both contending and being out of it where helping development but I also think that having more opps for guys like Adams, Lee, Aguilar, and to sort out who can be useful and who can't be benefit the team just as much as getting stretch run atmosphere games for the starters. Of course, I also will take what I can get so....
