Beer snob thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Need some quick advice from anyone who has tried this:

Russian River-Consecration

American Wild Ale
Alcohol by Volume: 10.0%
Color: Reddish brown
Sourness: High

I've always wanted to get my hands on a Russian River brew (mostly either of the Plinys), but stumbled across this today. I was dead set on buying it until I saw he was charging $20/bottle. Just curious if it's anywhere near worth the price-I know I won't be in California any time soon so that's the reason I'm giving it a second thought.

Not a total loss, though. I was able to walk away with a few of these guys:

Firestone Walker- Double Jack

style
American Imperial IPA

9.5%
ibu
100

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Great beer, but it's a sour (by design). The price is because it's aged in barrels and infected w/ bretanmyces to give it that sour flavor. Think Blue Cheese.

I just had an Alaskan Brewing Company Smoked Porter. Whoa, that is different! I guess they leave the beer in a smokehouse. I felt like I was sitting around a campfire. The bottle ran me about 8 bucks, but its worth it.

Anyone want to do a Cleveland-San Diego beer exchange? My pops sent me beer from Cleveland, and I want more. I have zero of the details worked out, but it could be fun.

More importantly, how's the bier I'm San Diego?

Notice I spelled it 'bier' ya silly little prick?

Totally completely joking with u ^man, really just found it satisfying to type that out after the day I've had.

But anyways, the beer, San Diego how's it lookin over there?

Got any brews over there that'll make it a level sided trade for the both of us?

In other words, got any beers on par with these Cleveland Exports?

I'm not even joking, I've been trying to track this beer down. Can we get something going here where you can ship a few out to me? You can't get it shipped anywhere in Ohio.

Let me see what my options are. I once shipped a $50 bottle of wine to my grandparents, only to find out they received a stained box of broken glass.

I just did my first trade through the mail a few weeks back. First and foremost, I would definitely go through FedEx or UPS, since it isn't illegal through a private company (USPS is thinking about changing their stance on that by the way).

I just used massive amounts of bubble wrap and newspaper. Shipped about 5 12oz bottles and it went swimmingly. I'll post a link for everyone that gives a tutorial on shipping beer when I'm not on my phone. I'd gladly start a shipping club if we got enough people from current regions. Could be pretty fun.

EDIT: Here's the link mentioned above.

Anyone had the new Southern Tier Pumpkin Stout, Warlock? It's absolutely delicious. I think it's even better than Pumking this year. I kind of wish I had bought a case of it instead of the Pumking.

A case of Pumking? That's a lot of flavor... Don't get me wrong, I like it, but I can usually only have one of the 22 ounce bottles.

Yeah. It sells out almost instantly in Charlotte, so I just bought a case from Total Wine the day they got it in. It's not like the stuff is going bad any time soon, so I've got a supply that will last me until Christmas. Also, my girlfriend loves it, which makes it a good beer to split when we cook dinner for each other.

Haven't tried the Warlock yet. Just saw a few bottles made it in to the store I frequent this week. I've never really been a big fan of Pumpkin/Yam beers though; one or two are alright, but it just gets too overpowering at a certain point. Spooky Tooth is a decent Pumpkin, but I might have to go back and try Pumking again.

As an OU grad, I'm extremely excited that Jackie O's Dark Apparition is making its way up here. I know it's been floating around at Lizardville, but that's a little too far out of my way. I know Red Wine and Brew will have it on tap in a few weeks. Every stout from Jackie O's is delicious.

My guess is you're from... Chardon? Chesterland? Auburn/Newbury? My fiance works about a Jamarcus Russell knee throw from Red Wine & Brew.

Chesterland right now, although I'm moving out to University Heights in about a month. I'll be right in between the Wine Spot on Lee Road and Warehouse Beverage on Mayfield, so I'm pretty pumped. Wine Spot has a great tap selection (Gumballhead, Matriarch Triple IPA, Take the Black Stout right now, Dreadnaught a few weeks back.) Warehouse gets a bunch of limited stuff in every once in a while. Both are active on Facebook, so I always keep my eye peeled to what they're bringing in.

Red Wine and Brew has a decent selection, but some of their bottles have been sitting there for a while. Also, if you want any limited brews, you have to ask at the front and even then you aren't guaranteed to get any. Even with the expanded distribution of Three Floyd's around town, they're pretty stingy about it. I'm curious to see how their two-story store in Mentor turns out.
