Beer snob thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Anyone else love them some Conway's? Probably my favorite of the Great Lakes brand.

I like Conways, but it's far from my favorite Great Lakes beer. I'd take Lake Erie Monster, Burning River, Nosferatu, Oktoberfest, and Alchemy Hour (now Chillwave for some reason) before it. Maybe a few others too.

Speaking of Chillwave...had this tonight!

Well clearly you love some heavy beers. :chuckles: I prefer mine a bit lighter which is probably why I like Conway's.

Picked some up at Total Wine, such a good beer.

The beer angels over at Market Garden Brewery just signed the lease on a facility with 35 brewing tanks for expanded bottling and distribution. Heard it here first, peeps.

The place I went to tonight (Good Bottle in Charlotte South End) actually had Conway's on tap too. I had a half pint of that, and three full pints of the Chillwave. Still don't know why they renamed it from Alchemy Hour, which I think is a better name. Ah well...good beer is good beer.

I know it sounds weird, but Conway's is the first beer I've had that I loathe. My girlfriend works for a beer distributor, and this conversation came up today while were drinking in Chicago (here for a brewery anniversary party, so of course there's going to be boozing). I realized that I've drank Miller, Bud, Coors, Steel Reserve, Little Kings, and a whole bevy of horrendous and cheap choices, and Conway's is the one beer that I will not drink anymore, free or not. Granted, I'm not an IPA fan to begin with, but that one is the only one on the banned list. No disrespect meant, but with that brought up, I figured I'd chime in on my IPA disorder.

Speaking of cheap beers: Big Flats from Walgreens is a relatively non-offensive beer for $3 a 6-pack.

By the by, the brewery we're visiting is Two Brothers. Ebel's Weiss is solid.

Lol @ recommending big flats, probably the worst beer I've ever consumed.

Name change came about because GLBC was involved in a trademark battle with Widmer Brothers Brewing. Widmer had trademarked their Alchemy Ale and basically said GLBC infringed on that. To be honest, that's why we're seeing so many long and bizarre beer names these days. I think the country has basically used every iteration of hop known to man.

Love the beer, hate the name.

Also for the Cleveland locals, be on the lookout for a keg or two of the Bourbon Barrel Aged Danny Green Enforcer Imperial Stout. I went to the Winter Warmer tasting on March 1st at Windows and they had the non BBA, still a great beer. They're releasing the BBA version in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Couldn't find a picture, but they have an awesome Danny Green shirt for sale at the restaurant.

Speaking of IPAs, I'm going to try to brew a Citra hop only IPA this weekend. I'm pretty pumped. Thirsty Dog Citra Dog is one of my favorites, so I'm hoping it turns out similar to that.

Is there an easy way to post the picture from your phone on here? Or do you guys actually upload it on your computer then host it?

I started using freeimagehosting, and then I copy and paste the second hyperlink for large pics or the bottom one for smaller pics.

Conway's isn't even remotely an IPA to begin with. It's a red ale.

Mixing Conway's and Commodore Perry. Pardon me, but I am going to use being drunk as an excuse, hence why I'm in this thread to begin with.

Had Surly's Coffee Bender for the first time tonight. Pretty weak regarding ABV, but for people for whatever reason hate beer but love coffee, this is the ideal intro beer. It tasted entirely like java and nothing like beer.

Anyone here homebrew? I'm looking to get started and could use some advice as to which starter kit to buy. Any suggestions?
