Best Pizza In Northeast Ohio

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Angelos is good but I'm not in lakewood so I don't get it often. Godmothers Pizza in Parma Heights is good when 'mom' is working; 'dad' gets chintzy unless he knows one of us is ordering. Best stromboli I have found. Pasta Lears in Brook Park is also pretty good. I'll admit I do stay away from gourmet pizzas, I have a simple rule that if the mall costs more than a decent steak then I should have just gotten a steak. Thus these two joints do not measure up necessarily to places like Vero or ones with Sicilian ovens.

Chicago get's hailed as one of the best pizzas in America, I was never enamored with it personally. I'm sure there are some great Italian restaurants in Chicago. I know my mother speaks highly of a few, since she spends a great amount of time in Chicago. But even she agrees, there's better pizza she's had here, than there.

They just open up a place called Fire Pizza, I'm hesitant to try it. I love the old school brick ovens though. But I don't know if the pizza itself will be any good.

I'm a pizza snob. Once you've had pizza you deem really good, the others just seem like trash to me.

If this is Pizza Fire you are talking about hat is 'fast casual' pizza, think the Chipotle of pizzas. Its ok, I don't like thin crust.

I think I'll pass. It looks good on the pictures, they have one here in Akron. I never heard of it.

Can't stand it. The crust is a joke.

I want a plain crust.
Most of my friends & family are obsessed with it...I've tried it 4 or 5 times and just don't like it.

Something about the cheese too I don't like. Like it's too cheesey or something.

But I'm also a little lactose intolerant, so that doesn't help.

Danny Boy's >>>>> Mellow Mushroom

I've never been to Angelo's for some reason... I should try that.

@godfather no Danny's is not deep dish only. They have a deep dish, but they have traditional style as well. It's fantastic.

Anyone have recommendations in the Green/Uniontown area?

I have heard good things about Guiseppe's...never had it...also never had Zeppe's or Romeo's. I hate living 20-30 minutes away from everything. My go-to is Bob's Pizza. It is attached to a car wash.

Danny Boy's is pretty good but every time I've been there, the wait has been pretty ridiculous, even when not ordering the Chicago-style. I have a buddy from Chicago that I took there, he said it's better than some "real" Chicago pies, not as good as the best though.

Romeo's on the circle by the fire station, best pizza in the neighborhood imo. Gionino's closer to the highway ramp (Massilon Rd. Exit) is also pretty good. Tried Zeppe's once because it looks really good on their website but thought it was a little bland and average. I've always been a little partial to Marco's - they just opened one by the Family Video on the corner of Portage and Wales in Jackson, not too far of a drive.

I can't do Hungry Howie's, Papa John's, East of Chicago, Pizza Hut, or Domino's so those 3 are my go to - mainly Romeo's. There's a Fox's pizza that I haven't tried yet, but it didn't look very good.

I Haven't been in the area for years but Kraus' Pizza at 43 and 619 was the best around there.

I think Angelos is a bit overrated, just not my thing. I've been to Chicago and have had Lou Malnati's and Giordano and loved both. One of my favorites for deep dish here is Romeos. Cleveland Pizza co. Also makes a pretty good pizza.

Fire Pizza, Blaze (Lebron dropped McD's to be a part owner in this), Pizzaology, Pizza-Rev and many many more concepts like this are popping up. Someone said it's the Chipotle of pizza and that is exactly it. You go down the line and pick your dough, sauces, cheeses, meats and fresh ingredients, then throw that into a very high heat wood burning oven and by the time you pay and get your drink the pizza is fully cooked. It's a great concept and really isn't much slower than Chipotle. The product is pretty good too. There are a lot of these fast casual pizza chains popping up, especially on the west coast and in Denver. Expect to see more over the next couple of years.

As far as cheap pizza, I kinda like Hungry Howie's for something that is fast, fairly cheap and ready to go.

For delivery, Zepppe's has always been my favorite. They have good wings too.

If I were to choose a sit down pizza place it's close. I have 3 favorites. Someone mentioned Geraci's in University heights. You can't go wrong with that but I think they are still cash only? (When I grow up I want to run a cash only business!). Master Pizza is pretty damn good. I've been going to the one in Mayfield heights my whole life and it's great greasy pizza. However; my favorite pizza is probably Pizzaz. Over by John Carroll or Mayfield heights, either one works. They just opened a new one called Slice in Mentor off 615. I tried it last weekend and it's the same recipe so I'm very happy as that's only 5 minutes from me now.

There was a Zeppe's at Geneva on the Lake, used to go grab a slice during my break when I worked at the Old Firehouse Winery across the street.

So many west-siders. :chuckle:

There are a lot of pizza places around where I grew up that are still amazing today. Of course, it all depends on what kind of pizza you like. I get heartburn, so I don't do a lot of meaty pizza; cheese for me. The list goes, in no particular order:

Geraci's (University Heights), Giuseppe's (Mayfield Hts.), Master, Sainato's (in the flats), Crumb & Spigot (Bainbridge).

For greasy, but great pizza at a bar I go to Cork N' Bottle in Mayfield and Map Room downtown on W. 9th.
