The BLM movement doesn't bother me. It's a worthy cause to point out government abuse no matter what. But I wish that was the point. Government abuse in general. Not just abuse of blacks.

It would ideally be a situation that could bring all races together, because every day whites are slaughtered by cops, Hispanics are slaughtered by cops, Arabs are slaughtered by the military. I suppose if the movement was called All Lives Matter, it would shine a light on the hypocrisy if they are ok with the mass murder of any of these groups of people by government.

If the policeman did their jobs correctly, why is the local Burger King coming out and saying that the Chicago PD officers deleted their security cam footage?

If they did that, they should be charged with obstruction of justice

I agree that what you're calling for would be a worthy cause.

But the BLM movement is about not just government abuse but the specific targeting of Black people. I think that's also a worthy cause.

Dave, when did the grouping of "cop" become synonymous with the grouping of "white?"

I don't think the term "White" belongs anywhere in this conversation, whatsoever.

With respect to police brutality it's police vs everyone. With respect to BLM specifically, it's police+gov't vs blacks.

Nowhere in there is there the singular condition of White people. That's one of the reasons it's so confusing to me.

we've had this conversation before, and the rub was that youre defining the entire movement but the movement is obviously very different to some people. look in any of the comments under any thread.

look at BLM facebook pages.

look at the video where theyre instructing to kill and rape white babies.

youre a smart guy and I know you wont pigeonhole yourself in this thread, but forest for the trees, white people are villainized by many people in a movement entitled 'black lives matter'. "white supremacists' are the villain on this one. white zimmerman, etc.

i could open up my facebook if you want and pull a few random comments from people I know, you will then make the claim that they are not representative of everyone, and we could get lost in minutiae, or you couldmake a genuine attempt to see where i'm coming from when you ask the question 'why do (some) white people have a problem with this movement?' I respect where youre coming from because you are fighting a good intentioned, educated fight, respect my viewpoint when I say 'as a white person, i feel heat coming from black people towrds my race and not all of their messages are as rational as yours'.

It is, and I don't begrudge them that. I just wish everyone else could see they are going through the same thing, just for different reasons.

So did this same cop shoot the kid 16 times?? How many bullets does a police clip hold??

Depends on the jurisdiction.

Just off top, the Beretta 92FS is 15 rounds. Dude was likely rolling with something like this and running +1, meaning he loaded a round in the chamber with a full clip.

I personally think doing this is stupid, but a lot of people do it though. This would've gotten him 16 rounds, and would explain the number of rounds fired.

I don't know what kind of pistol he used, but I do know this particular gun and it has a 15 round magazine that's pretty commonly used.

I don't have a problem with any of this, and you know I respect your viewpoint.

But some of what you say can be filtered by assuming the internet is really a cesspool of non-intellectual though. I don't take things said on Facebook, ESPN, Reddit, YouTube, etc, as representative commentary one way or another. I don't think that's wise to be honest, I think it leads to significant problems dealing with marginal voices that are loudest only on the net.

I can give many non-racial examples of how internet voices are anything but representative.

Either way though, I do get what you're saying and I understand your concern. I don't think BLM has anything to do with "White people" as a group though. It has to do with police. But I can understand how some Blacks and Whites both get these things confused and then subsequently go after one another when the real culprit here is police brutality against anyone and everyone.

One reason I like discussing these issues on RCF is we generally have much better discussions on issues than many of the places on the net such as some you listed. Some places on the net you can't even have a reasonable discussion on basketball.

And the DA still fucked up the charges, she now has to prove it was per-metitated murder. Dumb. Chicago's problem may start with some shitty cops but it goes all the way up the pole to Mayor. You are telling me it took what 13 months to bring charges? The cop got paid for those 13 months too... Jesus Christ.

No need to fear citizen. Officer Friendly will be back on the streets protecting and serving soon enough. You didn't actually think he would get convicted of anything, did you?

3. I work near OSU campus and I work late most nights, so I see officers arresting resisting drunk/high college kids all the time. Do you think these white kids on campus are concerned about getting shot?

Terrible situation, you don't shoot people that far away and on the ground.

However did you really just compare drunk kids falling over, pissing in public, puking and being loud mouths to someone running in the middle of a road while carrying a knife not listing to police officers commands at gun point? Not even gonna address the white only remark.
