Blazers looking to trade their picks

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He was part of organization that drafted Marvin Williams. Doubt it was his decision though.

What players in the draft specifically would bring more value to the Cavs on the floor than Anderson Varejao?

The top 5? The top 10?

From everything I've seen about winning basketball games Anderson Varejao seems like somebody you'd want to keep on your team. If you want to trade him away you better be 100%, not 99% that you're getting a future all star in return. Not the next Marvin Williams.

Does anybody know how how many of the projected top 10 in this year's draft class will turn out to be allstars?

I'd be surprised if it was more than 5 of them.

I don't buy that Varejao will go ring chasing and not re-sign with Cleveland.

It is possible to over gamble in the draft, and the possibility of turning a sure thing as sure as Anderson Varejao into an unknown feels like a bad idea.

BTW wasn't Grant once keen on Marvin Williams or was that just internet talk?

Anyone that is not on the wrong side of 30 and doesnt get hurt every year is better for a rebuilding team than Varejao.

I love Andy, but the facts are he is aging and always gets hurt. Trade now in the off season while his value is high. If we cant get a good pick for him, then we keep him.

If we trade for the Nets pick..oh my lol

The injuries are the only reason Id be open to moving him. But yeah good contract and in his prime.

Hate to get ahead of ourselves here, but what do you guys think Portland would be looking to give up? If the trade machine is accurate it looks like they'd have to move Wes Matthews in any deal and I don't think Andy + Lakers pick is going to command Matthews + any 1st rounder.

Pretty sure the new CBA won't allow it, but that won't stop me from dreaming about a Batum sign and trade. *drool* :hail::hail:

I'm more top 10, or lakers pick for late lottery. Probably about 5 picks higher than you.

I am realistic that other gm's know he gets hurt every year and he is not on a "bargain" contract, although he isnt on a bad contract either.

The only teams that would be willing to take on AV would be teams that are at worst fringe contenders. Any dreams of getting a top 10 pick for him should really be put to pasture. I would say a best case scenario would be extreme late lottery plus maybe a young player worth taking a flier on.

So Portland is willing to trade one or more of their lottery picks? If this is true, then there are going to be some people on this forum eating crow for calling it blasphemy to even dare think that anyone would be willing to trade an almighty lottery pick in this inhuman draft. :chuckles:

Well, the other question is whether or not Grant would be willing to do the one move that may be able to rake in one of those firsts, and that's trading Varejao. If Grand wants any shot at those picks, perhaps it would be best to bring back Varejao and have him have some big nights in order to prove that he is still worth what he was showing earlier this season . . . or Varejao could just go to the Olympics or at least be in training for it at the time of the draft. I think that might work out better.

I'd wucking love to get one of the top 5 guys and a guy in the mid-high lottery range out of this draft on top of perhaps some other prospects. We could also try trading out 2013 1st unprotected straight up for their lottery pick although I'd still like to keep that and would rather just trade Varejao. Imagine winning the lottery and getting Davis and then trading for one of their 1sts and getting someone like Beal/Barnes/Lamb/Rivers/Ross/Miller along with someone like Jeff Taylor/Fab Melo/Wroten with the Lakers' 1st.

If thats the case, maybe we trade andy and our two seconds for a late lottery pick and take maybe Zeller with our first(depending on how late we draft). Then can probably get Lamb around 12 or 13.

In my dream world we get Drummond, Lamb, and Quincy Miller with the lakers first rounder ;)

Cody Zeller is unlikely to be in the draft this offseason. Secondly, I doubt that Portland would want any picks in return since they are trying to get rid of picks. If we somehow did get their pick, I'd love to grab a wing to go with ehoever we drsft whether that be Davis, MKG, Drummond, Beal, Barnes, etc.
