Blazers players worried LaMarcus Aldridge will leave

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Let's start this debate....

Let's say Love opts-in, LMA wants to leave to join a legit title contender....

Sign and trade LMA to Cleveland for Love (who returns home).

Who says no first, Cleveland or Portland?

Kevin is a better fit for this team. He provides better spacing because he can knock down the three and he is a better rebounder than LMA. LMA is a better mid range player imo and a better defender, but this is a team that doesn't utilize the mid range game that much - many of their shot attempts come from beyond the three point line or in/near the paint.

Obviously LMA would be a great consolation prize if Kevin decides to leave, but if I was given a choice between the two, I'd stick with Kevin.

Lakers have space, a top pick, Kobe and Randle. It's also the most storied franchise in the NBA with the largest fanbase.

Dunno why folks keep discounting that fact.

For me I just can't see the Lakers sniffing a ring until Kobe is gone. I think his priorities are statistical achievement and a long glory lap around the L, not another ring.

Basically until Kobe retires the Lkers make you famous but not a winner. Like Love I think LMA wants to win more than he wants to be important.

Kobe just isn't good enough any more to help his team win games, even if he could stay healthy.

And I agree on Aldridge (and Love, but that's irrelevant to this thread). The fact that the two teams that are apparently at the top of his list (according to Mark Stein) are San Antonio and Cleveland says a lot about his priorities.

LMA is a 30-year old big looking for a ring. I don't think Los Angeles would be realistic.

If he were younger, say Kevin's age, then maybe... ;)

To think...

Kevin Love was once traded for OJ Mayo and Aldridge was once traded for Tyrus Thomas.

And now the teams who gave up Love and Aldridge are still alive in the playoffs and the teams who traded for them are not. In fact, the team that traded Aldridge (Bulls) for Thomas has had a lot of playoff success since that time, while the Blazers have really had none. And the team that traded Love for Mayo has had a great deal of playoff success, while the Wolves haven't even made it.

In spite of that, who looks like bigger assholes: Memphis or Chicago?

If the Father was alive and still in charge of the franchise, instead of the son, then maybe... ;)

Let me go and correct that for you. ;)

Agreed.. there's serious problems with the Lakers management from ownership on down. And that really cannot be overlooked.

I think it is an absolute issue to any player signing there trying to get his ring. Couple that with the Kobe contract, and I can't see a player like Aldrige giving that location a second thought. Now, some players might still find LA desirable, but, they likely are looking to bop some Hollywood starlets, or just earn a check. The minute the son took over, the franchise simply went to shit.

Kobe is a cap sucker and can't be counted on to contribute. He's done.

Randle is an unknown quantity. He might end up being good, he might not.

They have a good pick, but draft positioning doesn't guarantee the player is going to pan out.

They have terrible management, especially at the ownership level. They have a terrible head coach who will stand on the sidelines with his arms crossed and puts his players on blast in the media rather than keeping it in house.

Even with the additions of Rondo and LMA, I don't know that they can even be a playoff team in the West. If they were in the East, they could be. The West is just too good right now, and I doubt at this stage of LMA's career, he wants to go somewhere where he can't contend immediately.

Windy said even Cavs players think Love is gone? lol...if true, better start planning to try and pull off something like this.

Lol...

But, by the sounds of things, this would get done if we wanted it to get done. Which is comforting.

When did he say that?

When did he say that?

He's been saying this for weeks, every time he gets on the radio, the same old, "EVERYBODY I TALK TO SAYS LOVE IS LEAVING!!"

But this time, when he was listing off "executives, agents, around the league" he also included "Cavs players." *shrug*
