Brandan Wright

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Some of y'all need to come down off the ledge.

Yes the Cavs FO has made some horrible moves the past year and a half. To review they drafted Bennett, signed Jack, signed Bynum, acquired Deng, probably panicked and dealt too many assets to dump Jack, and then possibly may have slightly overpaid for Love...and I haven't even discussed all the front office and head coaching issues.

Despite all the cluster****s we are sitting in a position that most teams can only envy with 3 stars on the roster. It's damn amazing when you stop and thing about it. At this point they probably need to stay patient and not panic again. Arguably the best trade Griff made so far was the Spencer Hawes deal and that's because they were patient and waited out a desperate Philly team last deadline. They do have some assets left at their disposal to improve the team both for this season and again during the summer. That Memphis pick and the TPE is going to look more and more tempting to a team like Denver or Bos as we get closer to the deadline.

Alot of good centers in the draft,
too bad we don't have those 2 picks dog NOW BASH ME HARD
We still have our own first round pick and the Memphis first rounder....and several personnel and assets available for trade prior to the '15 draft, to include the Haywood contract, TPE, and DPE. We'll be just fine.

I like him, but his durability is a big question mark right?

Boston does have a glut of good or at least promising centers. I guess they don't want Tyler back, but damn he was good running the floor. He would have looked good on this team. He can hit that Andy shot at the elbow too.

Would you give up the Memphis pick for Wright?

I outlined some possible compromises in a thread on the main board for those who are uncomfortable giving up the Memphis pick (a pretty good asset, though not one that will convey in 2015) for a player on an expiring contract in Brandan Wright who has been a good player throughout his career, but who for a variety of reasons, including injuries, has not generally been viewed as worthy of starter minutes.

If you include the Memphis pick, you could hold out for Boston returning the Cavs second round picks (from 2016 and 2017, I believe, which the Cavs could then flip in another trade). You could also do a side trade where the Cavs would trade a small contract (could be Kirk, Amundson, or even Joe Harris) for Jae Crowder, who could provide the Cavs with a needed wing defender. It's possible that Danny Ainge acquired Crowder in the hopes of flipping him at the deadline. The other possibility is that he sees him as piece going forward, though he is a free agent this year, so that seems somewhat less likely.

Anyway, these are just ideas as to how you can make relinquishing the Memphis pick a bit more palatable. I'm not necessarily endorsing this trade. That said, it's hard for me to see what else the Cavs could reasonably give up to get Wright that would be of interest to Boston. Maybe Haywood's contract, but Ainge now has the huge Rondo TPE, so that probably wouldn't interest him (by the way, the fact Boston has this huge TPE is a bit of a threat to the Cavs and their ability to leverage the Haywood contract this off-season in that it provides some potential competition).

As Keys says, what Boston will be willing to do will be driven by the market Wright commands, as they presumably traded him with the view to flipping him at the deadline. It's conceivable the Memphis pick could be the best asset they can get for him, and if so the Cavs bargaining position would be significantly strengthened.

That said, it could be that the Cavs prefer either Mozgov or Koufos.

I'm assuming and hoping the Cavs are very patient for a reason. Things will open up near the deadline whether it's tax teams looking to dump salary or fire sales. Although we need an injection, best not blow our wad on the ugly chic

didn't we already do that when we got love?

NBA Trade Rumors: Miami Heat Vs Cleveland Cavaliers For Brandan Wright? Both Teams Need A Big Man! Newly Traded Center Can Bring Draft Picks To Celtics
By Knox Stradler | December 31, 2014 10:29 PM EST

The NBA Trade Rumors continue for Brandan Wright even though he has been recently traded. Once he's eligible, two Eastern teams with LeBron James ties will probably pursue him. The 27-year old center has proven capability to contribute.

Wright's impressive performance as the main reliever off the bench for the Dallas Mavericks has augmented his trade value. He was probably the reason why the Celtics pulled the trigger on the Rajon Rondo trade.

However, the Celtics are not looking to win now especially without Rondo. Wright's trade value could help them obtain more assets for the future which is the Celtics main goal.

Two teams desperate for a big man have solid intentions and these are LeBron James' teams: The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat.

From ESPN: Sources say the Cavs, in recent days, have been in contact with the Boston Celtics about working as a facilitator in three-team trade scenarios. The Celtics, blessed with frontcourt depth in the wake of their recent acquisition of Brandan Wright in the Rajon Rondo deal, have been aggressive recently in their attempts to acquire future draft picks...

The bolded is garbage. He plays for the Cavs. How do you let someone publish this article saying that.
