I'll wait before I see what we do with our 3rd pick before I rate it.

He has arguably the best arm in the draft. He is old and he is not mobile. Those facts cannot be argued, but at least we know longer have a noodle armed qb. Think Derick Anderson if Anderson was accurate and colelcting ss as a rookie.

I'm a Weeden fan, but I admit I didn't want him at 22. If someone like Hill, Randle, or Glenn falls to 37 I'll feel better.

I don't want to think about Derrick Anderson ever again. Him having any similarities whatsoever makes me want to cry.

    Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Felt like it was a reach. I hope Heckert is totally sold on him. Cosell's tweet makes me feel a little better about getting him here. We're going to need to protect him in order to be successful. Maybe we get a RT soon?

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>So much for the Colt McCoy era. Weeden best pure pocket passer in draft. Must be be managed by offense so he has time + functional space.</p>&mdash; Greg Cosell (@gregcosell) <a href="https://twitter.com/gregcosell/status/195697196853768192" data-datetime="2012-04-27T02:13:42+00:00">April 27, 2012</a></blockquote>

The only similarity Weeden has to DA is arm strength.

No way. He is going to make sure he gets every penny Lerner owes him.

    Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

He's definitely not a goober. He's a smart and composed guy and he's not going to get scared out there. There's something to be said for having age and wisdom.

I actually think he's going to end up being a good player, the best the Browns have had since they got back. On one hand...that's nice. On the second hand...that ain't saying much.

Thing is...Heckert has yet to disappoint in a draft. You have no choice but to ride with the guy. And if he picked Weeden, chances are...Weeden is going to be a good starter within two years. Thing is...he NEEDS to be damn good and he needs to be starting fast.

I'm optimistic about the quality he can bring to the position. I'm just disappointed that no matter how good he is, he'll only be that good for a few years. Some QB's can most definitely play until they're 36-37 years old nowadays. But...a lot can't.

Stylistically though, he's the guy who can play for a while. He doesn't run around taking licks. He relies on moving in the pocket and making good throws.

And lack of escapability. Weeden is 10 times smarter and more accurate (and older) though;.

    Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

I bet I end up liking the pick a couple games into his first season. The more I watch of him and read about him, the more I'm starting to get it. And once again...in MY mind, the biggest thing he's got going for him is that Heckert picked him. I trust Heckert wholeheartedly.
