Browns Adding to Game Day Experience

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I just seen a tweet today saying the browns hired an architecture firm from L.A to work on stadium improvements,,, I believe it stated somewhere in the ball park of 100million in improvements. I guess we will all wait and see what they have up their sleeves, announcement supposed to come at end of the month.

The one thing they absolutely need, as I could care less about wifi or hot dog races, is a new scoreboard.

It would be nice to see replays without looking at a screen that you can barely see who the home team is. A bigger HD screen would be extremely welcomed.

For people that play fantasy football and want stats for wifi, what is it going to change? People, can you put your damn phone down for ten minutes? We are glued to that damn thing. Dont you want to escape for the three hours you are at a game? You can't upload pics after the game or check your fantasy stats when you get home?

I dont understand why we are so attached to our phones and social media...

The article talking about the renovations was Crain's Cleveland, a subscription based publication featuring Cleveland business happenings. Very credible.

Browns notebook: Architecture firm, construction company selected for FirstEnergy Stadium renovation

two-year project

one after the 2013 season and another following the 2014 season.

In an interview with the Beacon Journal in November, Banner indicated that the installation of new scoreboards and sound systems at the stadium would be among the items on the agenda.

“Clearly in the area of technology as it relates to scoreboards and sound systems, things have advanced so far from when these systems came from,” Banner said. “I don’t want to prejudge anything, but it’s inconceivable we won’t be making some very dramatic changes there.”

Just a few tidbits from there, not that interesting of an article. And as hughes said, later this month we will know exactly what is happening. I am assuming some of this $100million would go towards that new indoor tailgating, but I am not sure.

Hope its true about the new scoreboard/sound system.

Sry. Wrong thread.

Despise Booms but he actually had a decent idea: bring back the dog pound but make it legit. He said no kids under 12; i say take it one step further: Nobody under drinking age.

Make it crazy but in a governed way. Remove kids and you can achieve this

My buddy has season tickets to the front row and it's so lame down there these days it's not even worth the $55 face value.

Back when the team first came back, it was kind of cool but we sucked so bad that the life would be sucked out of there so quick.

Problem is, a lot of the lifers down there are older. In the third row, there is this old couple that comes to the game and bitches and moans if you stand up while they sit under a blanket with their grown daughter that does nothing but read a book. They never miss a game and they never miss a chance to complain to the usher that we stand and cheer when we are on a roll or make a big play.

Alec Scheiner press conference. Story from Daryl Ruiter:

BEREA (92.3 The Fan) – The Cleveland Browns are making major changes to enhance the fan experience on game days at FirstEnergy Stadium this season.

Team president Alec Scheiner outlined a 5-point plan to improve the experience for fans Monday.

The team has added a new cell phone tower from Verizon and upgraded the existing AT&T tower to improve cell reception at the stadium. The Browns are also exploring wifi service and may include it in the team’s stadium renovation plan.

20 new turnstiles and 44 security screening chutes have been added to improve the speed with which fans can enter the stadium. The changes should help an additional 4,000 fans get through the gates every 15 minutes.

The NFL has prohibited bags at games this season and will require clear transparent bags. The Browns have purchased the regulation bags for their season ticket holders.

Say goodbye to the same songs that have been played since 1999.

There will be new music – including a pre-game and in-game DJ – to spin the latest music for fans. The team’s video production on the scoreboard will be enhanced and brand new player introductions including pyrotechnics will be added.

Scheiner said the goal is to make the intro’s a moment that fans won’t ever want to miss.

The team has renovated the team shop and added satellite stands throughout the stadium. More than 100 televisions have also been added to concourses to help fans not miss a snap when away from their seats.

Also:

-Will have a drumline.

-Regarding Dawg Pound: said re: "we have a few surprises" in the works; team still working w/ architect.

-Everything about player intros - from music pyrotechnics to how players run on field - will be different.

Story from WFNY:

The Cleveland Browns released plans today for enhancing the fan experience at FirstEnergy Stadium on gameday. Last week, Jimmy Haslam told the media at training camp that the Browns have two long term goals that drive everything they do. The first is to build a sustainable winning team, and the second is to provide great experiences for the fans.

Today, team president Alec Scheiner unveiled some of the steps the Browns are taking to improve the gameday experience for the fans.

It started with the fans’ ability to use their cell phones and other mobile devices. The Browns have coordinated with the major cell phone service providers in the area to enhance service at a crowded stadium. Scheiner promised fans a much better signal.

The Browns would like for fans to be in the stadium and excited early. In order to get fans to their seats they have installed 20 new turnstiles around the stadium and opened 44 new security “chutes” or checkpoints. They have also added “express lanes” for fans that do not have any bags to search. The goal is to get 4,000 more fans through the gate every 15 minutes compared to 2012.

The team announced that there will be new pregame music including a DJ on the field and new video elements. Player introductions will be completely new as well. The Browns say that fans will not want to miss those introductions.

The Browns will also use a drumline this season, and what they say will be “inventive” halftime entertainment.

In addition, the Browns installed more than 100 new televisions to fan areas and upgraded the merchandise available throughout the stadium.

Obviously the best way for the Browns to pack the stadium is with a winning, exciting football team. Boosting cell phone signals, getting fans in the gates quicker and updating the in-game entertainment is not done at the expense of the former.

So what's up with the weiner races? Is this still happening?

I'm with you on this Mac. My goodness people are slaves to their phones. Is it really that big of a deal to turn the thing off for the 3 hours or so that the game is being played? The last thing I want is for some jerk next to me to be blabbing about how he is at the Browns game on his cellphone the whole time. I know when I go to a game there isn't any texting, facebooking, etc. I'm actually there to watch the game. I do like adding televisions since it will make it easier to watch the game if you need to take a bathroom break. It is also a good idea to add the turnstiles as well since it will help get more people through the gates.

As for the music, pre game intros, and weiner races, we'll see how that goes. Of the three, better pre game intros might be the most exciting to me. The music at the stadium never really bothered me. In fact, I get sick of hearing Radioactive and all of those other trendy songs they play on the radio all of the time on my commute from work. As for the dog races, I really think it is a silly idea. But, who know, maybe the fans will like it.

Thank God. Hopefully won't have to watch little Jimmy Football's grade school flag football team at halftime every week.
