Gentlemen, if you are interested in joining the moderator team for the Browns website, it would be helpful if you include me in your PMs inquiring/convincing admin. Yes, fortunately or unfortunately I am one of the point guys on this project.

Thanks!

Sounds cool but why is an entire new site necessary? For branding and traffic? What is wrong with the Browns Talk on RCF? Please explain the pros and cons.

The Pros are that there are probably 10 times as many Browns fans in the world and they aren't coming to a Cavs site with a small Browns section.

The Cons is running and paying attention to another site.

I don't have the free time/interest to moderate, but I was serious about doing some writing for the new site. Will that be a thing like it is on RCF?

Ditto. Feel free to PM me or Keys if interested.

My vote for mod would definitely be Phills. He is my favorite poster in the Browns section.

Being a male and assuming he is as well, i may have unnatural feelings towards him.

Just saying.

How much does it cost to be a mod? 5 bucks? 20 bucks? Dinner at Red Lobster?

If you can supplement the site with better content people will come.

Why is it good for people to come? I think that's the question. I mean, it's not like we're talking about expansion being good on its own because it's a for-profit business. Will a lot more people posting in a new site make the conversation better, or worse?

It all depends. You take the good with the bad.

Of course we want the site to be a big hit and open to whomever to express their opinions. We may get a few great posters coming in, but of course we are going to get some bad apples. You just pluck them away and continue on. If not, we still have a lot of us core people who have been posting in Browns forum a long time. And as Ben stated, we can do chats with writers, etc...it will only get better as time goes on.

I would rep a RBF shirt to the Browns games I go to

I think the dynamic between the sarcastic trolls on this website and the nutjobs over on the OBR together would be hilarious.

The difference between places like RCF and the OBR is the fact these people pay for their content and the site as a whole is run by a larger corporation.

This ties the hands of people actually moderating the forum. The Scout forums for OSU are similarly terrible, but the moderators and writers there have little influence over the population because people are paying up to 100 bucks a year for this content and they don't want to hand out refunds or divert their revenue stream.

Here, you don't necessarily have that problem. Obviously you'll have your Jigo's who ruin every thread with their nonsense but stay around because of his oral donations, but you have the opportunity here to be much less willing to put up with nonsense than you would at OBR or anywhere else which provides subscription based content.

It's something that intelligent Browns fans have been begging for and why this is pretty much the only site where I come for Browns talk.

An influx of traffic will inevitably bring posters from all ends of the spectrum. Just like with RCF, it will be the communities job to encourage the quality visitors to continue visiting, discourage those with nothing of value to offer, and to help newcomers understand what is expected and what constitutes a meaningful contribution.

The benefit of added visitors will be diversification of opinion and experience with regards to the team. As long as the admins, mods and existing community can maintain some sense of civility with new visitors I see no way that it would not be a benefit.

Unless you want to read a few more pages of two people sniping at each other about what Mr. Manziel does on his weekends.

The reason why RCF is able to reach out to local and national writers as well as have a relationship with the team itself (albeit a shaky one) is because of our size. We could never have that same sort of relationship with with Browns if we relegated our football talk to 3 sub-forums on a Cavs message board.

Happily donated.

David, you just completed your payment.

OBR used to be better, but once they put everything in the watercooler forum, it's gone to shit. Even as a sub-forum, the RCF Browns forum is pretty legit.
