Browns Running Attack

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Crowell is going to get phased out unless they're confident he can hold onto the football.

Exactly. They can't take the chance with him fumbling the way the offense is playing now. These are going to be low scoring affairs and we can't give other teams a short field.

In agreement, but when West is passing up first downs for self-fulfilling home run attempts, it's just as bad, if not worse.

I agree.

Even though I'm seeing Crowell as the more dominant, and assertive, runner over West. Crowell clearly doesn't have a complete grasp on the playbook yet. Or at least, that's what it looks like to me.

Crowell is averaging 4.9 yards per carry and has 4 TD's. Tate is 3.6 YPC with 3 TD's and West is 3.8 with 2 TD's. Why would we phase out Crowell...because of one lost fumble?

He also has the least amount of carries. I think we should go with Tate and Crowell because of the variations in running style.

Well Rizzo said that center is the easiest position to fill on the OLine, snap the ball and step back. So I highly doubt that losing Mack is the issue......:chuckle:

It's dickwads like that who are the ones everyone follows bi-annually with pitchforks and torches... That is the scary thing. The fact that these guys can galvanize the fan base without knowing what the hell they're talking about is unsettling to say the least...

n recent years, the importance of centers for a football team has increased, due to the re-emergence of 3-4 defenses. According to Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, "you need to have somebody who can neutralize that nose tackle. If you don't, everything can get screwed up. Your running game won't be effective and you'll also have somebody in your quarterback's face on every play."[1]

the center is typically called upon to call the line formation and if noone is on him either move up into the secondary or offer help. this is why of the linemen the smartest lineman is usually under center as they have to recognize immediately who need help or who to pick up.

maybe rizzo should stufy football a bit before commenting on it

Losing Alex Mack was a crushing blow; like previously mentioned, he is an elite/all pro NFL center. His performance in the Saints game was about as dominating as anything I've ever seen by an NFL OL in the past few years.

Greco and McQ had a decent game vs PIT, but they were shih-tay in Jax. McDonald didn't dominate, but he wasn't a matador either. I'd rather have Greco at RG with an NFL-caliber center, than Greco at C with a backup G; we still have 4/5 of our starting OL.

Gerald McCoy has been pretty dominant this year, and I expect to see him in the Browns' backfield a couple times on Sunday. This TB front four can get after QBs, and with Lavonte David on the edge, we could have our hands full.

While I understand Pettine's limiting the number of Crowell's snaps vs OAK, it's easier to take if the in-game RBs are averaging more than 2ypc.

Not to mention, Travis Benjamin has what, 3+ fumbles this year? Yet, Pettine puts him back in the game on a weekly basis.

Yikes. Talk about invalidating your own argument.

How important is Alex Mack to the offense? He makes an average of 8.4 million a year. Add together all of the salary dedicated to receivers and tight ends and you get 10.9 million. Add together all the running backs with Hoyer and you get an investment of roughly 8.5.

That is how valuable Alex Mack is to the offense.
