Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If we don't stop releasing CO2, we will make large portions of the world uninhabitable by humans.

Don't disagree, but overall environmental impact is what I said, we both can be right, you are arguing with someone who agrees with you but just saying the batteries are horrible on the environment too as they are completely toxic to get rid of.

What year is this expected?

I mean a millennium or two at the current pace, but it is getting worse, CO2 emissions is having a huge impact.

Sadly I read the number 1 thing we can do to help C02 emissions is stop eating beef so we stop farming cows, and honestly I love beef.

I love beef (and dairy) too, but gave up beef (and dairy) last year because doctor told me my TMAO level is high (never even heard of that before, but I guess it's bad for you) and that eating beef and dairy causes your body to develop the gut bacteria that produces TMAO. It's like giving up most things, it was really hard at first, but gets easier over time.

I guess I am going to die in my 70's instead of 80's and enjoy steak and burgers.

The potential range is much wider than that, especially if we can do something significant about aging.

I'll be 56 this year, when I was younger 70 seems like really old and living a really long time. But now 70 doesn't seem old at all and seems way, way too short. Getting way off topic, though.

If everyone just cut their beef/dairy consumption in half, it'd make a huge impact. But beef/dairy farmers are going to fight that every step of the way the same way fossil fuel companies fight the switch to electric.

This is one of the underrated aspects of the electric motor. They last a long damn time. Did you ever see a window fan from the 20s or 30s? They usually work just great. I know it is a different set of stresses, but transmissions and internal combustion are hard to make durable.

The battery waste is an interesting problem. The real answer is that we should recycle them. The chemical components can be reclaimed, but it is expensive and from a capitalistic point of view it isn't worth the trouble. I think this is one of the major issues with capitalism that must be dealt with if we are going to survive on this planet. Just because something isn't profitable, it doesn't mean it isn't worth doing especially in terms of long term benefits for society as a whole. Recycling paper for instance isn't cheaper than cutting down trees, but that assumes the only benefit the tree gives us is paper we can sell for money. It does more than that and is worth more than the material that makes it up.

We need to start identifying those benefits and valuing them as a society or our graves are already dug. Huber is flippant because he thinks he is gonna be dead before things get really bad, and too many people think this way. Life is too precious to be worried just about yourself and your immediate family. There are things that are more important than money, and I think it is sort of sad that i seen as not a logical thought in our society.

Why is that question even relevant? We have a moral obligation to leave the world better than we found it. Climate change is already causing problems, which are only going to get significantly worse within the lifespan of people alive today. Some of that it’s already to late to stop, some of it can be prevented.

Can’t wait around for government to do it all. People and responsible corporations acting in bulk can make a massive difference.

Just got off the phone with a Toyota dealer

20,500 new 2019 Camry and 22,900 new 2019 rav4

Both with lifetime mainframe warranty

Idk I think those sound like some good deals. That was less than the certified pre owned at the other Toyota dealer

Thoughts?

Mainframe heh

That's a pretty good deal going by what's on auto trade. Upgrade to an AWD if you're in the snow belt and you're able to.

Another thing people can do if they aren't able to afford electric cars is to try to extend the lifespan of their current car or pick a used car over a new car. It takes alot of fossil fuels just to make a car. If you are reducing the overall production it is helping the environment.

I agree, go with AWD if it's an option. If you don't get AWD some models are impossible to resell in the Midwest and northeast. It's also safer and doesn't change the cost of maintenance.

Really suggest comparing the total cost of ownership of Camery vs electric, including cost of gas and maintenance on all of the parts that dont exist on electric cars and the longer expected lifespan of the electric car.

Damn car lingo. Powertrain lol.

Majority of this car’s life will be driven in the south. Not sure I can make the 11 hour drives home in the winter anymore might be opting for flights

But no guarantee I stay here indefinitely so good to think about. I hate snow probably more than cars though so I tend to avoid it at all costs

Unless he doesn't live anywhere near a Tesla service center

AWD is also nice in heavy rain too especially on highway. The car will feel way more planted.
