I think it is time to retire his 3 point shot. He just doesn't need to shoot them, especially if he is going to look so bad otherwise. As crappy as he has looked on the fast break, he can finish decently around the rim, but he is never there. They plant him on the perimeter to space the floor, but he doesn't space it at all. Defenders know this, and count on him making 1 of 4. They really need to plant him near the free throw line,a nd he needs to work on his mid range game.

An NBA player finally made 2 of the open 3s he's been getting all season.

GO CRAZY, FOLKS!! GO CRAZY!!!

I believe someone called me "asinine" for giving Casspi the honors of being the White Larry Hughes.

Not surprising because that is a horrible comparison. Larry and Omri are really nothing alike. Frankly, Casspi should wish he was as good as Larry before the injuries, and loss of his brother, robbed him of his game. The biggest issue with Larry here was always how much he was being over paid. The Cavs don't seem to be paying Omri 12 or 14 million dollars do they? If Casspi was playing as well as Larry did his first year here, you wouldn't be seeing the amount of complaints you see here.

Hughes definitely had his flaws. It also didn't help that the Cavs insisted on using him as a pg at times and not trying to play to his strengths. But, I'd like to see how bad Omri would handle running the point. We complain about him dribbling it off his foot now. Imagine that "skill" when trying to bring the ball up and attempting to initiate plays.

The comparison was more along the lines of his HeyLarryPleaseStopTakingSoManyBadShots.com days.

Admittedly I haven't had time to watch too many games this season, but from what I've seen Omri doesn't take bad shots for the most part. He has just lost his confidence to the point where he bricks wide open shots.

Which is a problem, because once you start passing up wide open shots, you might as well quit basketball. The point of basketball is to get a high percentage shot, and a wide open jumper is as high percentage as it gets (excluding wide open layups and such...). The only way for a player to get out of a shooting slump is to keep shooting (provided they are good looks and the player doesn't just chuck one up every time he gets the ball, which Omri doesn't).

What Byron is probably trying to do is to limit Omri's minutes so he doesn't hurt the team, but in those limited minutes he encourages him to shoot the ball if he gets an open look, hoping that gradually he will start to come out of this slump.

Does Walton get Caspi's minutes?
I hope not. Walton and Kapono are not much better than Casspi.
The difference is that they are over the hill and are only going to get worse. On the other hand, Casspi still has a chance to get better. If either of them gets Casspi's minutes then his NBA career is pretty much over. Even though his level of playing is very disappointing, he is still only 23 and I think it is premature to totally give up on him.

I came up with new statistics which is points per salary (in millions) and player efficiency rating per salary. I think NBA team should start using this stats... I also added the adjusted field goal percentage.
As you can see Casspi is not doing so awful. Also, this is the right time to say that Jamison is deadweight!
