Didn't the Spurs have interest in him? Gives me hope he's not a total stiff. We could definitely use a capable 5th big with Love/Andy's injury history.

Gotta say I like the answer he gave about wanting to win and play with other great players more than chasing $.

Sounds positive in that he seems willing to play for whatever we can offer and the best we can do is around 1.3-1.5 million per year.

Who has a clue how good he can be, but I'd imagine that as the 4th/5th big, he can do alright. The fact that he is a true center vs. a hybrid is nice as it just ups are chess playing abilities.

If we trade Haywood for a TPE, sign a vet SF, and Kaun signs; than there is only room for one of Harris, Christmas, or Pointer. This assumes that Delly, TT, JR, and James Jones all return as well

I think at a worst case scenario he's at Perk's level, but I'm guessing he's better than that. Either way, as a 4th/5th big I think he'll give us more than Christmas.

Also, I really think there is a possibility that we just Christmas and Pointer to go play in Europe/the d-league for a year to get better. Either that or we trade their rights to someone.

I just have to believe that they had a plan when they took those guys because they had to have known that we had too limited of roster space to fit them in.

sounds like he's coming

he's better than perk and haywood

Sitting w/ LeBron, Griffin, Blatt & T.Lue at this CLE-MIN Summer League game is Sasha Kaun, Russian big man who CLE has draft rights to.

Am I the only person who found this more important than anything about Sasha Kaun in the tweet?? This implies Lebron, our GM, and our coaching staff are at least communicating, and hopefully getting on the same page- something that was haphazzard, even disjunct, most of last season.

Won't contribute at all. "Do something to make it look like we did something this off-season"move.

I think you get dumber with every post.

The cavs:
Re-signed LBJ.

Signed Love to what will be a VERY cheap contract.

Signed a backup PG -- our biggest need.

We will likely re-sign the rest of our role players.

And we will find a backup SF for vet min.

What the hell else were you expecting?

Why the hell did we not go after Lamarcus Aldridge and Deandre Jordan?

Kaun scored 10 points per game for CSKA Moskva, which is one of the 4 top clubs in Europe. Even if the transition to NBA won't be easy, I still think he can contribute. Definitely more than Perkins.

Let's make it simple.

Who did better this offseaaon, clippers Or spurs or us? Mo williams and every player we already had that didn't win last year made the logical move by staying with a winning team and makin the most money. Brilliant work we did. Our competition got better and we got mo williams and a scrub

Fucking idiot.

Please tell me how amazing a euroleagie retiree will be for us.

Then put quantifiable expectations to go along with it and put your money where your twelve year old mouth is.

It's crazy. Those were the only two players available.

Sorry you burst your homer bubbles but we fucked up and were not gonna win a damn thing.

Right, I was using hyperbole to make a joke... Now, who did you want that we realistically could've gotten? David West or Joe Johnson? West would've been really nice but I think he wanted to go where he could play minutes, not Cleveland. Joe Johnson? Yeah, he would've been amazing. I ultimately don't think the Cavs were willing to give up Varejao. On top of that, why the hell would the Nets trade one their best 3 players for absolutely nothing?

Also, your comparison between our offseason and the Spurs is asinine. The Spurs had cap space and tradeable players. Frankly, the only guy we had who was legitimately tradeable that other teams would've wanted is Haywood.

You don't think re-signing LeBron James, Kevin Love, Iman Shumpert, and most likely Tristan Thompson, JR Smith, and Delly aren't us getting better? Adding a veteran backup point guard who can still be effective and has past chemistry with some members on our team isn't helpful?

Did you forget how dangerous and dominate this Cavs team was when at full strength? I believe 33-3 they were when the main core was active, minus Andy.

That's insane. And if anyone thinks the Cavs' summer thus far has been horrible because we didn't sign a few guys to veteran minimum deals(because we didn't have much cap room to work with anyway), then you're delusional.

The Cavs got better by adding Mo Williams to their already stacked roster. The Cavs still hold the Haywood asset, and they have own the rights to Kaun and their 2nd-round rookies they selected back in the draft.

Because the Clippers signed Josh Smith and the Spurs signed Aldridge and David West doesn't make them better than the Cavs, either. Yes those teams got better, but it still doesn't concern me, nor should it.

This isn't the final roster we will see, but even if it is, it's arguably the best in league.

It's too premature guys.. Going in either direction of the argument.

I've been keeping notes of what's been going on, and I think at the end of the offseason we should think about what the Cavaliers accomplished to make this team better.

Right now, I am not satisfied. But, I'm also not far at all from @MirORich or @kovanovich 's positions either; in that, we really need to take a wait and see approach.

Maybe Griffin has a plan... maybe.. Maybe he doesn't, and maybe we did miss out on some pretty solid pieces.

Right now, again, it doesn't look like the most well managed set of decisions. It's the GM's job to get talent, to convince said talent to play for the best team in the league and to sell them on a guaranteed Finals appearance. The fact that we haven't been able to do so thus far speaks volumes, but what speaks even louder is the fact that the Cavaliers have not been reported as one of the teams pursuing some pretty prominent figures.

We were linked to West, but AFAIK, that's about it; and ultimately it seems like it was the Cavs who chose not to make the Johnson trade.

If that turns out to be true, that we balked at trading Haywood+Varejao for Joe Johnson and that cost us David West... boy oh boy... Especially considering Varejao might not even play 30 games this season.

...not going to go on forever about purely speculative things... really it just boils down to a wait and see approach. But August 1st is fast approaching and it looks like we might, at most, get a TPE (which will cost us an asset). It also looks like our draft night decisions have not worked out either.

We'll see where we are in two weeks.
