Cavaliers need to emulate OKC & how they were built

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Rondo was traded for. Actually, they sent the first round draft pick that they acquired from the Cavs for Jiri Welsch to obtain Rondo.

Jiri friggin Welsch....

One of the all time great trades in Cavs history.....wonder what he is up to

I had to look it up.

Apparently he's playing club basketball in Belgium. Hasn't played in the NBA for 5 years now.

fuck.

Jim Paxson is by far one of the worst GMs in NBA history. The only thing keeping him above Isiah Thomas and Scott Layden is the fact he drafted Lebron. And he doesn't deserve that much credit for it beacause 1. Lebron was by far the best player available. Darko had a lot of hype, but he couldn't bring in the revenue like James. 2. He had to be convinced to take Lebron because he didn't originally believe the hype.

Why not the model of the Bulls?

Celtics?

Lakers?

Jazz?

Blazers?

Sonics?

Bucks?

Pistons?

Heat?

Magic?

Rockets?

Clippers?

Sixers?

Bullets?

Spiders?

I think that was our original intention under Ferry, but we forgot to draft Tim Duncan instead of Lebron

What really hurt us is the fact Paxson picked so many busts before we took Lebron. Diop, Mihm, Wagner, etc. We only had one more shot in the lottery with Lebron and he blew it with Luke Jackson. I think I could have picked names out of a hat and drafted better than Paxson. What a clown.

i dont understand why OKC get the credit for something championship teams been building for years.

I don't think they get 30, but if the defense we saw in the Preseason continues, they won't be losing the close games to bad teams like last year.

Defense can win games, but the close games tend to come down to execution in the clutch. It's hard to win those games if your offense starts sputtering.

Of course if you have a some guys who are really good at drawing fouls, that'll help ... but they do need to make the shots.

Exactly. Until we get some wing players that aren't the worst in the league, we are going to struggle to win games. And for the record, I like guys like Gee and Eyenga..... I think our frontcourt will be surprisingly good on defense with TT and Varejao though.

?Jamison will be healthy. Varejao will be healthy. Parker will not be made to play 35-35 minutes a game. Sessions is healthy and potentially a little less reckless. Samuels game has improved. Casspri looks to be a solid addition. Irving and tristan even as rookies will be far bigger contributors than than any rookie we had last year.. Eyenga will be a bit less raw.

The team as a whole is familiar with each other and know what to expect. The guys who didnt know how or want to learn defense and position themselves properly are for the most part gone and you have crammed schedule that will benefit a team who typically will have 8-10 guys playing double didgit minutes every night. Most importantly the defense will improve considerably from last year.

The cavs should hae a much better record overall this season period

Kyrie in theory could close some games for us, but that's only a hope, not something I'd count on this season given his level of experience.

Aim that high and you might shoot down a plane.

Way too many assumptions being made. You are assuming that everything that can go right, will go right, 100% of the time... That obviously isn't going to happen, although that's not necessarily a bad thing. We definitely want to suck this year.

The sad thing is that even if all that happened, we still wouldn't even sniff the playoffs. :chuckles:
