I agree with this, especially if we are talking about paying Shumpert 10 mil a season. I don't really see how that salary is justified. Maybe I'm just not acclimating my brain to the new salary cap that's coming soon but 10 mil a year seems a lot for a guy who really struggles with shooting and even layups and dunks.
I think the idea behind keeping Shumpert lies in his long-term potential. And normally I agree with that. Ultimately I think he can pull a Jimmy Butler and become a borderline all-star. Buttttt, I think that takes another 2-3 years. With Wade, you have an all-star caliber player for the next 2-3 years. I don't think we can understate how important it is to win while LBJ is playing at this level.

Now, can we win with Shump and without Wade? Fuck yeah. But it becomes easier to win with Wade in his place.

Ultimately I don't think the Heat will want Shumpert so it shouldn't be that huge of a deal anyways.

I just don't see Shump as an all-star at all. He barely can dribble the ball, he has no mid-range game at all. He can't finish around the hoop worth shit. These aren't things that I likely see him developing, either.

Finishing around the hoop is a skill, and his is almost non-existent. He's worse than Dion in that regard.

Don't get me wrong, I like him, I want him back. I think he's a potentially really good 3-D player. I'd like him to improve his three point shooting even more, and I think he can.

He could be our Bruce Bowen, which is great, but all-star, I just don't see it.

He's lacking a lot in the skills department to pull that off.

I agree. That being said the way I phrase this would be: I wouldn't expect him to turn into an All-Star but it wouldn't surprise me if he did. It's asking a lot but when he's been healthy for a prolonged period he starts showing flashes: his offense looked it was about to take a leap with the pull up jumpers against the Bulls for example.

This would require two things both of which may not occur: 1) he actually can stay healthy which he's never proven 2) If he stays healthy he uses that lateral quickness and handspeed he shows off on defense to translate into better offense

Oh boy, lets trade a 24 year old defensive stopper with they ability to get better along with our big trade chip and a potential rotation player for a year of Dwayne Wade's busted knees, big contract, and possibility of screwing team chemistry and balance. That's just what I want.

Wade? The last thing we need is another old player who can't play a full season.

Sometimes the simple yet obvious tweet is the best one. Not going to try and watch Kotoch or Fedor tie themselves up in a knot.
