Cavs looking at S&T for Johnson, Bosh

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As crazy as it sounds I can really see us picking up 2 of the "max" players.
Bosh is due 20 mil- So trade JJ, Mo, Andy, and Moon, and next yrs pick. Thats roughly 20 mil.
Then acquire CP3 you could come close with AP, Telfair, Delonte, 2012 first and second, sign and trade some sort of filler to balance it out.

I just feel were gonna flip teh roster regardless. I can see us having some left over assets in between trades to make another big move....ahhh...sleep deprivation is setting in.

So after we trade away 7 players, and 3 draft picks to get 2 players in return....how many players would we have on our roster, exactly?

I agree that we need a superstar beside Lebron. But signing 6 players to the veteran's minimum to fill out the roster isn't the way to get that done.

I'm not surprised. The National Media does not want to hear about anything good for Cleveland. They only write things good for the Knicks, Da Bulls, and the Nets. Any sourced news who tell them something good about the Cavs would get stuck in the "later" file.
You sound like the people who claim other teams don't make trades with the Cavs because "they don't want to help LeBron stay in Cleveland."

I'm pretty sure signing 6 players to the vet min would work when you have three of the top five superstars under 30. Plus T-Mac would probably be one of the vet min signee's. Oh and we'd have the MLE to use. And the BAE. Yep, we'd be fine.

Of course the CP3 trade would never happen, but if it was offered after we completed the Bosh deal we obviously wouldn't say no because "we would have to sign a lot of players for the vet min."

Agreed that it will never happen, but you do not say NO to get CP3 for those players. With the MLE, Joe Johnson or Ray Allen would love to play with those other 3 players, even at the MLE amount IMO.

If you take Bosh, Calderon, and Hedo, that's roughly 37million.

If you trade out Telfair, JJ, Delonte, Parker, Mo, and s&t Wally for about 6-8m first year it works.....

Throw in some cash and a first rounder or two....doesn't this work for both Toronto and Cleveland?

Not at all imo, that is to heavy of a price to pay for a S&T. Most S&Ts end with the team S&Ting the player getting raped, that one ends with the Cavs taking two terrible contracts and losing half of our roster. Jose or Hedo, not both, and maybe Jack if needed, but not both hedo and Calderon.

I am guessing it will come out to something like this:

Bosh (16.5)
Jack (4.8)
Total = 21.3
(Need 16-17m to make it work)

Telfair (2.7 expiring)
West (4.7 expiring)
Parker (2.9 expiring)
Hickson (1.5)
Eyenga (1.0)
Wally S&T (4.2 expiring)
1st rder
Cash

Saves Toronto about 4m per year (Since they could just let Bosh go), they get a young PF in Hickson, first rd pick, and cash.

That seems to be how ALOT of S&T's work, like Mdog1, said above, the team trading the S&T player, gets raped.

Pg- Williams/Jack
Sg- MLE/Gibson/Green
Sf- James/Moon/Williams
Pf- Bosh/Jamison/Powe
C- Shaq/Varejao

Would still have plently of ammo to get a Joe Johnson/Haywood S&T.

On the Hawks board they were talking about a Varejao/Moon/Green for JJ S&T, which works if JJ gets about a 14-15m per year deal (little under max).

And the other deal that has been talked about on this board is Shaq for Haywood S&T. Not sure if Dallas does that, but it is just another option.

Will sure be a fun offseason.

Good post, that is exactly how I see things playing out if a Bosh S&T is to happen, I doubt we give up any thing more than JJ that holds true value. At the most, we would give up Varejao, but really that makes little sense for Toronto because he has a pretty large contract. I am not sure they will get rid of Jose because he is a fan favourite, but Jack is rumoured to be being shopped so that eliminates that salary for them.

This would be my worst case scenario to get Bosh here, Varejao, JJ, Mo, Delonte, Telfair, Moon for Bosh, Jack, Hedo.

But that is fairly good value for a S&T, which never happens so I think we would see something more along the lines of Mo, Delonte, Telfair, Moon, JJ, Parker for Bosh, Jack, with the rights to Eyenga, a future first and some cash included as well.

Edit: and through this whole summer FA BS I have remained that Joe johnson will be our starting two guard in 2010-11 as long as LeBron is here. But I don't think that it is possible to get both JJ and CB unless JJ were to sign here for the MLE, and my reason is simple. There is no way that two Eastern conference teams are going to hand the most talented player in the league two other top 15-20 players and make an Eastern conference rival a dynasty. It will not happen.

With the possible coach hiring of Shaw and the possibility of a triangle offensive system, I think the Cavaliers will look less at Bosh and more at Joe Johnson. I don't see us paying Jamison big money to be Donyell Marshall and I don't see us trading his contract until after next season. He is probably going to be our starting power forward next year.

However, a trade with Atlanta for Joe Johnson could give us a 90s Bulls feel, complete with a triangle offense. And then there is the very real possibility of Shaq.

I cant imagine how a deal gets done though. Something like West/Williams/Varajao for Johnson?

I doubt we would include AV in a deal for Johnson. Not because I over value AV, but because we would be losing our best non LeBron defender, and possibly our only C on the roster. I could see something like West/Williams for Johnson, because JJ is not a true max guy. But Bosh is the guy we should target and not JJ, if we can swing for the fences and get Bosh than JJ should become target two, is it likely? No, but having an all star big man, and an all star SG/SF is the recipe for a championship.

Horribly overpaying.

Honestly, I'd still prefer Bosh over JJ. JJ is the most overrated FA available and giving him a max deal is a disaster waiting to happen IMO (unless we acquired him and Bosh/Amare, which is unlikely for obv reasons). Sure, he'd be a good fit...but so would Bosh, etc.

ETA: ^^ Hawks wouldn't do that without sending Bibby here.

West/Parker/Telfair/Eyenga/1st/cash works salary wise -- 3 are ending contracts and 1 is a young player for them to replace JJ at SG in the future after Crawford. They also get cash/picks.

Just depends what the Cavs FO wants..JJ or Bosh.

No way Andy is included in a trade for JJ. You should never trade a big for a small unless the big is pretty weak. I would prefer Bosh though. Triangle or no triangle.

seems like joe johnson is the most feasible of them all, which i guess i would take if anything were to actually happen

Wouldn't Bosh be our Gasol in the Triangle?
