Alex Kirk

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Can he provide any rim protection?

He averaged 2.7 blocks in 32 minutes for game for New Mexico. He has a 7'3" wingspan. He will be protecting the practice court rims at Cleveland Clinic Courts during training camp like his career depends on it.

Anybody know how many players are officially on the roster?
Do we have to cut somebody to actually sign Marion?

He is pretty coachable and can set a pick it seems like. He can legitimately shoot, which is good. Scouting report says he moves off the ball well, and that was apparent in summer league. Maybe Blatt has a plan, or maybe he is just another expiring.

Alex Kirk will transform his body and become an all-star. Book it.

Made a bitch out of Shrigley.

Cavs can carry up to 20 players on the roster during the off-season, so no problem. They can sign Marion, Allen, trade for a center, sign Powell, whatever.

How many players they now have depends on whether you count the Utah guys and who comes back in the Love trade, but they are well under 20 by any measure. And the chances of Kirk actually making the team probably aren't very good. They should have no problem getting down to 15 by the start of the season.

Final roster could look like this:

1. Varejao
2. Love
3. James
4. Waiters
5. Irving
6. Miller
7. Thompson
8. Jones
9. Unknown Center
10. Dellavedova
11. Haywood
12. Harris
13. Marion
14. Allen

That still leaves one roster spot for a developmental big (like Kirk or Dwight Powell), a third string PG/combo guard like Etwaun Moore, or even one of the Utah guys (it has been reported the Cavs may like Malcolm Thomas). This scenario assumes that Love is the only guy who comes back in the Wiggins/Bennett trade, of course.

Of course it's sarcasm. Anyone who'd say that would be preposterous.

Sorry, I didn't think anyone would think I was actually serious. I'll use a smiley in the future.

Lloyd confirms what we have been saying, that Kirk likely isn't the last move on the center front...

Interesting tidbits:

-- Kirk's contract includes a "small guarantee" for the first year. Second year non-guaranteed.
-- Haywood not expected to be ready when camp opens.
-- Okafor could miss "at least the first couple months of this season."
-- Cavs aren't interested in Oden.
-- Two of Utah guys -- Murphy and Thomas -- are bigs, but neither is assured of making the team. (Comment: Maybe they are "bigs," but they aren't centers.)
-- Cavs keeping final roster spot open till Marion and Allen situation resolved. (Comment: Not sure how Lloyd is counting though.)
-- No guarantee Cavs offer Powell a contract.

You're new just be prepared to be hazed for a bit. If you don't wig out, then you don't get banned.

No reason not to grab him and at the very least let him develop in Canton.
