Cavs sign Kevin Jones

Re: Cavs sign Kevin Jones (and waive Harangody)

Harangody is a good player, but he will need to do that in Europe. He just isn't long or quick enough. I think Jones will be a good rebounder. He positions very well, and I like how tough he is.

Re: Cavs sign Kevin Jones (and waive Harangody)

I've watched every game Jones has played in the D-League. His skill-set will translate well into the NBA. He has a high motor and a solid IQ when it comes to positioning for boards. He'll eventually transition into a stretch 4 that can hit the long ball if given enough time to mature.

Ha, I would have bought you a dollar dog if I would have known you were actually one of the few of us going to the Charge games.

Only one game live. Other two via game streams on YouTube.

BTW next game you go to let me know and I'll see about getting your tickets upgraded.

Good to hear. I've never seen him play in D League, but I thought the same thing seeing him play a handful of games in college. Even with the injury, I was really surprised he went undrafted. I am not, however, surprised we signed him. I was really worried another team would come in and scoop him up. With some of the deadbeats we have (had) on the bench, it would have been a real shame. Glad we were able to lock him up, even if he doesn't get the official call up for a while.

Everything I've seen from this guy is he's a gamer. I think he has potential to be the 4th big on our team, maybe even this year. The season is young, I imagine he'll get a chance to show us something this year (inevitable injuries).

I hope Jones can end up being the 4th big, really liked him when he was at WVU reminded me of less athletic David West.

If does turn into the 4th big I hope the Cavs cut Samuels and sign a guard along the likes of Shelvin Mack to do see what he can do

Re: Cavs sign Kevin Jones (and waive Harangody)

You guys will be surprised at who signs harangody and how well he does for them once he has recovered from his injury.

The Wizards?

Re: Cavs sign Kevin Jones (and waive Harangody)

I think this has to be a wake up call for Samardo. Jones will get some burn, so Samardo and Leuer are battling for the bottom.

Re: Cavs sign Kevin Jones (and waive Harangody)

I like how The Cavs handled this. They had a guy they wanted on the roster but felt needed some d time. so they give him a contract to get him some money and cut him to send him to the d league. Although you gamble the player can someone else. if he does well you probably have a good shot at keeping him because you can always sign him and he has a favorable outlook on the team because they took care of him and ensured he got a "d league " bonus.

Also when Jones does get called up he will still have the terminolgy and overall scheme down since the program is designed for seemless transition.

once again id rather have seen leuer get the yank than Harangody but leuer is healthy and luke is not.

as far as Samuels , The Bullshit Whisperer reported that thought the organization has high hopes for Samardo.

it is just hard to tell with some of the players on the team because when Scott is in development mode he has them on the court working on their weaknesses which can sometimes mask their strengths

I really dont think luke got a fair shake after he showed considerable improvement. I put him far ahead of lueur but if Scott wasnt going to play him no sense keeping him on the roster.

It's because he's white.

Re: Cavs sign Kevin Jones (and waive Harangody)

I think the Cavs didn't anticipate Leuer becoming available on waivers when they signed Harangody. It never really made sense to keep him and with his recent surgery that will keep him out for a least another month, giving Kevin Jones an opportunity makes a lot of sense. I'm hopeful that one of Samuels, Jones, or Leuer can be a consistent fourth big. Rebounding numbers do translate so Jones has that going for him.

Funny, I thought this was a wake up call for Thompson.

I guess I just don't see the Sam similarities, unless of course you were just pulling Sam's name out of a hat as an example. I mean, let's be honest here, Sam isn't exactly the brightest crayon in the box. Even though he got in shape, he was lazy as hell last year. None of this describes Jones. Sam wasn't the Big East POY either.

I'm not saying the odds aren't stacked against him, but I love that he's a basketball player in the truest sense of the word. He works hard. He understands the game and how you're supposed to play. He's got a knack for rebounding and score inside and out. And if it doesn't work out...no big loss.

Sam wasnt a skill type player, just how undrafted rookies typically work out.
