Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Finally some national exposure!!!

It's nice and certainly deserved.

That said, the Cavaliers further increase their hold on their title: "Team with most retired numbers that has never won an NBA Championship."

He'll be number seven. Surpassed by Phoenix (eight) and Utah (nine)

Barstool sports is quite the reach for "national"

Thanks, I read that stat about retired numbers about 2-3 years ago, we must have since been passed up.

Knock Barstool for being completely disreputable, but it is a national outlet. I also posted that with the utmost intention of being sarcastic. Second time that's happened to me today.

Viva La Stool.

Sometimes it's hard to explain these situations to misinformed fans, but someone like Nate Thurmond wasn't about a long career here.

It was his impact. He was a sole reason the Miracle of Richfield could even be considered today one of the best things in Cleveland history. It gave Clevelanders hope. Similar to Mark Acquire giving the pistons a championship, that's the type of impact that Nate had. We were up perennial contender, if only for one season.

He was also a hometown hero - he grew up in The 'Kron. He was LeBron, before LeBron. Except he was a mensch, and not a jack-ass.

Congrats to Z.
Can we now retire World B. Free and player/coach Lenny Wilkens?
Both had a big impact on the history of this franchise.

I'm pulling for Edgar Jones and Ben Poquette, myself. And Lonnie Shelton. And Dinner Bell Mel.

In cavs history, Z is #1 all time in games played, #1 all time in total rebounds, #1 all time in blocked shots, #2 all time in minutes played, #4 all time in points scored. Of course he deserves to have his number retired.

Really no one in Cavs history deserves to have their number retired up to this point.

I'm not against retiring Z's number- but I wouldn't be upset if we didn't.

Anytime you can retire someones number who average 13 pts and 7 rebs and shot under 50%, you gotta do it.

Love Z but damn...Kurt Rambis never got his number retired by the Lakers. :chuckles:

Does staying loyal to the same organization for 12 seasons (and even more now as he's in a front office role) not count for anything?

You know he was well compensated for his "loyalty" right? Anyway, I'm sure Z is a great guy, and I respect that he battled through devastating injuries. But being a great guy isn't enough to have your number retired in my opinion. Being a great player should be a crucial part of the criteria.

Fuck the Big Z haters!
