So what shitty team is desperate enough to shed contracts to give up a lottery pick. New Orleans has Okafor and 2 possible lottery picks I know, who else?

Less than 5 days to go until the trade deadline. Might as well ramp things up with a general purpose discussion thread. Individual threads/proposals/etc. can still be found in the Trade forum.

    From Sam Amico. Speculate away.

I know all talk in CLE is RG3, but know this much about Cavs: According to latest, they may not need to miss playoffs to get back in lottery

Not elaborating on Cavs at moment. But you should be able to figure it out. Working on deal for someone's lottery pick. That's all for now.

As I get more sources to confirm, and more confident that reporting it wouldn't mess with potential deal, or players, I'll be more detailed.

The RGIII news was one thing, but I think this officially starts the annual RCF Meltdown that will be "trade deadline week"

Re: Cavs actively seeking lottery pick

Yes. Utah owns Golden State's pick as part of the Deron Williams trade (got GSW's pick from NJ last year). The pick from GSW is top 7 protected though.

New Orleans also owns two firsts. Theirs plus Minnesota's which is unprotected. That pick could become a lot more valuable since Rubio just went down for the season. I would hate to deal with David Stern though.

Could you imagine trading for the Minny pick and it ends up being #12-14 and the Cavs end up winning the lottery with it again? Especially if Stern okays a trade to Cleveland.

    EDIT:

NY's pick is top 5 protected. They're hanging on to the #8 spot in the playoffs right now though.

We all may hate Stern ,but he loves Gilbert. That connection may benefit us.
