Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis (Speights, Selby, Ellington, and pick for Leuer)

If this Kyler guy is lying can someone kick him in the plums?

Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis (Speights, Selby, Ellington, and pick for Leuer)

I remember this board jizzing with the thought of us drafting him in 08. Is he still that good? Can he make an impact even if it is small?

Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis (Speights, Selby, Ellington, and pick for Leuer)

Does that mean we only get the pick if it fall from 6-13? Am I understanding that right?

Unless they stripped the protection off of the pick they already owe Minny then, yes.

You are correct. Ensuring we get a lotto pick at some point in time, depending on the years & protections.

Toronto did this with the pick that OKC has. A very innovative way of ensuring a lotto pick, but protecting your ass if it hits top 3.

Speights had the option to block the trade.. but has opted against exercising it.

In Cleveland he will see the most minutes of his career, which means he will add value to his next contract. Block the trade? This trade makes him allot of money.

So these contracts are short term we just absorbed? How short term, because I know the Cavs want to keep flexibility

1 expires this year, 1 is so small doesn't matter, and 1 has a p/o for next year and expires.

They all expire or can expire after this season. Only one that has a player option for next season is Speights.

Speights expires next year, and neither of the other two guys make enough to really concern ourselves with them. I think Ellington expires this year and Selby in 2015, although presumably with team options on the third and fourth year.

Also, for everyone saying this was a terrible trade for Memphis, it's really not that bad. They dumped two guys who weren't playing and a third who wasn't getting big minutes in order to get below the tax level. They now are no longer in a weak position in any potential Rudy Gay negotiations, nor do they have to deal him at all. It was a good trade for both sides. The pick was the price Memphis had to pay to get us to take on all the money.

Great trade. A potential backup combo guard, a future pick, and a solid bench option big for Leuer. Ellington is crap. But nothing to complain about here.

Someone has to go, Pargo, Jones, another trade or a sleeper?
