ECF: Cavs 4 - Hawks 0

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Hawks were always pretenders just like Toronto earlier in the season. They were always destined to lose in 4-5 games. Now with Carroll out it should be a sweep.

I honestly see mismatches for the Hawks that could make this a series, but they really didn't take advantage of them tonight very well.

The Cavs definitely got be thinking about ending it as soon as possible, given Kyrie probably won't be right for the remaining series. Maybe not the entire playoffs regardless.

Try to go up 2-0, because if they do that will be a sweep.

If the Hawks are really going to have Millsap on LeBron, they just need to have TT setting a screen on Millsap about 35 ft from the hoop. Force TTs man to switch and pull another big out of the paint. The hawks would in turn be scrambling to rotate all game.

Got a lot of thoughts on this one:

We didn't play all that great (besides JR), Kyrie barely played, and we won the "feel out" game on the road. Huge. I was waiting for us to go on a run, and we did in a big way. But if JR wasn't on absolute fire, it might have never came. Glad we won the game, but still have so much to learn from it and improve upon.

Honestly, I probably wouldn't play Kyrie the rest of the series. Not saying we are already guaranteed to be in the Finals, but if we are going to be there, we need him healthy anyway. Teague is just absolutely torching him and he is probably doing more harm than good right now on the court unfortunately. If Kyrie is healthy, even if he can't "guard" Teague, he would get his 20-30 points which would basically offset everything Teague did offensively and gives us a blowout win. But with Kyrie hurt, he is that much more of a liability of defense, but can't even get close to making it up on offense.

And Teague can score. But he normally isn't even scoring as much as he did today. Teams know Kyrie is hurt and take advantage of it. Really, all we have to do this series is shut Teague down and we win. Sure, we are going to give up jumpers to Horford, Millsap, and even Korver here or there, but it's not even close if Teague doesn't go off. We should be prepared to adjust and lock in on him next game. Put Shump on him most of the game and keep him out of the paint.

And I'm interested to see how the Hawks react to the Demarre injury. It could inspire them and make them play harder and try to "win for him". Or it could crush their spirit and make them throw in the towel early. Either way, it will have a clear impact on the court and change the rotations and defensive schemes on LeBron.

The Hawks made four three-pointers tonight, and missed a number of open shots. They'll play much better in Game 2. Still worried about the Teague/Schroder combo.

Also, maybe this is irrational, but I'm a little scared the Hawks are gonna try to hurt LeBron or JR. Especially after Demarre goes down, they may already feel like that is the only way they can win the series. Maybe I'm just paranoid by the string of injuries, but with the way Millsap was hitting LeBron on both offense and defense, it makes me wonder. Teague even gave some shots to Delly (knocked him down twice I think). They already look super frustrated.

This team literally went from an offensive juggernaut to a defensive juggernaut...

One would think playing Mosgov and Tristan together would be a disaster ---- and yea it would be if Tristan Thompson hadn't morphed into a Canadian Ben Wallace !!!!

Hawks fans :chuckle:

-Cleveland has put a robot on the floor and that's not fair. JR Smith is the best player in the NBA when he plays the Atlanta Hawks.

-Fall at JR's legs. DO it now.

-Fall at Jr Smith's ankle. IDC. Gotta play dirty to win.

-Seriously, we need all the groupies in ATL to do their part and find JR

-series over.... wow...he had to tear his ACL there

-Were Fucked

-Won't be watching LeBrons ESPN tonight

-Seriously somebody get into it with JR, our only way of getting him out the game is getting ejected

-Fuck this shit, see you game 2

RealGM gems:

- Great heart from the guys there...not much you can do when JR Smith plays like Steph Curry and Scott Foster places a wager on Cleveland.

- I hate the way the refs favor King James, he's a great player he doesn't need preferential treatment.

- Honestly he's guarded so differently because of how he gets calls that he might not be as good as we all think. If no one touched Teague when he drove in the lane he would just take what he wanted and never look back

So I guess no one touches LeBron when he drives :chuckle:

Fools talkin about SWEEPS? My God, people. How long have you been Cleveland fans? Great win tonight. Without an unconscious JR, they don't win. Lots of basketball left.

I'm normally the cautious type but....I'm pretty sure we'll take the series - They looked like they were sucker punched after tonight and, they lost a core member of the squad.

Cavs in 6 at worst, A sweep is actually possible.
