Charles Barkley/Cleveland

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dude repeats every main thought word for word at least 2-3 times during each commentary. Extremely irritating, but his thoughts add to the discussions.

He's spontaneously funny on the set though; his primary role is 'clown'. I could go into more depth about his clown role in relation to network sports television viewer demographics and preferences, but decline at this time.

Bottom line: dude is getting paid, and he is earning his money.

Barkley is Barkley regardless of everything being said around him and you have to give him his props for being his own man right or wrong. Some of his thoughts resonate with us as Cleveland fans, some don't. Such is life.

I'm a Chuck fan. If you're not, then you're too sensitive.

Love Chuck. My favourite 90s player along with Hakeem, Stockton and Price.

Chuck loves to take the piss but that is usually for the bigger markets like Knicks and Lakers. And, honestly. I love it that he does. The amount of coverage both those teams get in spite of being so shit is as Chuck would say, "Turrible". Love the way he simply ridicules Ernie and others for having Lakers and Knicks in TNT. That is how it should be.

Regarding his opinions, I don't always agree with him but at least he has a thought process behind it in spite of just agenda. Rocket's GM, Daryl Morey mocked him a couple of months ago, yet in this Clippers v/s Rockets series, he picked the Rockets.

For the Bulls v/s Cavs series, predictions, well, that is because of how he was as a player. He prefers power players and size in the front court over back court skill. That is why he went with the Bulls and that is why he went with Memphis over Warriors. He was wrong. But, then again, who isn't?

As a man, he isn't afraid to speak his mind. As a player, he was a beast and as an analyst, he is the most entertaining analyst in Sports. Love him to bits. Sorry, for the overly love for Chuck. I am a fanboy!

I think he is actually quite wise. IMO, his trouble is with the filter and the vocalization of thoughts. :dunno:

Yeah. He knows a lot and usually makes good points. Its just that he ain't the best at expressing them.

For some reason I equate Charles to Austin. It almost appears you could replace Charles Barkley with Austin Carr on TNT and get the same result. Since I love Austin Carr, I love Charles Barkley. Does this make a lick of sense? :dunno:

I think he was right about the Cavs/bulls at the beginnibg of the series, but the cavs got better every game and got stronger because if the adversity. Different team by game 6

I'd pound his round mound of rebound. Love me some Barkley

I agree with doing sonething to svg and Jackson though. They were just drooling over themselves hating on blatt hoping to get a crack at his job. Was pretty pissed at hubbies too during the boston series.

It's us against the world right now.

Barkley has been all for LeBron coming back here even before LeBron's letter, and has been nothing but complimentary towards this fan base. He talked this city up big time in the home opener & leading up to it. He even lobbied TNT to put him on the telecast because he said he wanted to be here live for it.

He's paid to give his opinions. Sometimes, we won't like them.

As long as he doesn't bash the city or the fans, I'm good with him. I may not agree with his takes on some things, but not everyone has the same opinion as us.
I think it might have even been Chuck that said that was the best thing he has ever been apart of, or that was the best atmosphere he has ever seen or something like that (for our home opener).

Chuck is fine, but he has crossed into the "back in my day, things were way better" territory. Sad, but it was bound to happen at some point.

Please oh please boo the hell out of those 2 clowns. They really do deserve it.

As for Barkley, I've always liked the guy though I'll admit I was a little turned off about his prediction at the time. But now that I think about it at least he was being real, and in that context he's certainly allowed to be wrong. Just kind of got lumped in for a sec there with the media clowns who have bias or read from a script.

Either way I think people need to always remember now that the Cleveland Cavaliers have LeBron. This is LeBron's era, he is in grown man form, mentally mature and experienced, and one shouldn't bet against him under these circumstances. At least not against teams like the Bulls and Hawks/Wizards. Golden State on the other hand seem to be for real and who knows how that would go.

Barkley is awesome and he's been nothing but supportive of the city of Cleveland and its sports fans. Who the fuck cares if he picked the Bulls over us? That shouldn't change anything. He was just giving his honest opinion of who he thought would win the series. That doesn't automatically mean he's anti-Cavs or anti-Cleveland. He called us "real fans" before and was saying how LBJ should return to Cleveland when no other analysts shared that sentiment.

If I see Chuck, I'm going to buy that dude a beer. One of the only guys left in sports who stays "real" in front of a camera and he really seems like a cool guy.

I love Sir Charles too and find him very entertaining and has been very supportive of Cleveland. But he has been overly critical of or towards the Cavs as of late, I believe without any basis, in line with the overall criticisms of the Cavs from the national media.

For the most part, I value Chuck's opinions, which have been shown to have a lot of validity. But again, not only were his recent comments about the Cavs anti-Cavs, he was emphatic, his opinions had no basis in fact and were, for the most part, wholly wrong.

He didn't just pick the Bulls to beat the Cavs, for those who did not watch him, he emphatically stated "there is no way the Cavs can beat the Bulls without Kevin Love". Now why is that, especially when Vegas had the Cavs favored for most games? In fact, he was pretty wrong and he didn't give LeBron the credit he deserved, in line with the national media. I think at least a sign restating his prediction to chide him is warranted.

He criticized the Cavs for using Kevin Love the wrong way and criticized Blatt. Okay, some valid points here, but the Cavs were winning the most games since January and Kevin's game took on new life the day before he was injured.

He lobbied the NBA ad naseum to suspend JR for FIVE PLAYOFF GAMES! Now, what is the basis for this? At the same time, he did not lobby the NBA to do anything about Kelly O.

He also emphatically chastised the NBA for ejecting Gibson, despite Gibson's clear kick towards Delly. He wasn't just trying to free his leg, he kicked towards Delly, which is not a leg freeing move. He also angrily stepped towards Delly while he was on the ground, evidencing intent. He and other national talking heads emphasized how Delly should have gotten a technical or been thrown out for his leg lock, while remaining silent about Crowder's similar or worse moves attacking JR's back, which led to JR's his arm swing, the same way as Gibson's kick. He also ignored Gibson's hard fouls on Delly the plays before the leg lock or how a Cavs player was pushed from behind during the skirmish without consequence.

It seemed to me he was pulling for the Bulls, for whatever reason, or showing an anti-Cleveland bias. Why?

Maybe I'm a little sensitive with all the negative national pundits taking shots at Cleveland and Blatt, with no or little credit or love for us, while Vegas--who is in the prediction business--keeps on making us favorites or one of the top two or three teams. Kenny Smith also seemed to be attacking the Cavs. The TNT/ESPN game announcers also seemed to be attacking the refs for making calls against the Bulls and defended calls against the Cavs.

NBA TV was not much better. After game 5 in the Bulls series, Isiah Thomas, who has been critical of the Cavs, actually said a number of times that the Bulls left game 5 feeling very confident and that the Cavs would be in trouble if the Bulls blew us out in game 6 and then came to game 7 feeling very confident. Now, what kind of statement was that?

Let's see if his love for Cleveland returns, now that he will be at the Q.
