Re: Who is our head coach in the 2103 Opener

He likes his role at the University of Akron. He'll never coach in the pros.

Says who? I have deep connections to the man.

Re: Who is our head coach in the 2103 Opener

Dude I don't even know anymore. No name comes to mind :( wtf. I have always been excited about the restart process but now I feel.empty about it. Basically anyone is an improvement over shurmur.

Re: Who is our head coach in the 2103 Opener

Fuck that, I'm starting the Tressel Safari.

I've always said that I could never cheer for another team, even when the Browns didn't exist. That being said, I'd be cheering for another team if the Browns hired Tressel.

Re: Who is our head coach in the 2103 Opener

It absolutely has to be somebody with head coaching experience who has a track record of winning.

Haslam: Has been around a winning organization with Pittsburgh
Holmgren/Banner: Have been around perennial winners
Heckert: Helped build a winning organization in Philly

Now it's time for the coach. Enough with the coordinator experiments, trying to hit on the next big thing. We need to win & we need to win now. Get a proven guy in here that knows how to win & can change the attitude & mindset of this team on the field. Fortunately, I have a feeling Haslam has the same thinking.

Fuck that, I'm starting the Tressel Safari.

Good, that means it won't happen.

Forgot to mention according to a sportscaster here in Tampa, Gruden and Haslem have already had contact since he bought the team.

He doesn't officially own the team yet.

Re: Who is our head coach in the 2103 Opener

Tressel has said publicly he wouldn't coach at the professional level. He considers himself an "educator".

Re: Who is our head coach in the 2103 Opener

This is kinda crazy, but what if Holmgren gets bought out as President and Banner takes over, then Holmgren steps up to be the coach. That would allow us to improve the coaching position with a minimal shakeup to the rest of the front office. No need to move Jauron or Childress.

I know, highly unlikely, but it's a move I wouldn't hate.

Re: Who is our head coach in the 2103 Opener

Shurmur blows but putting it all on him is extremely short-sighted. The talent is not there.

Re: Who is our head coach in the 2103 Opener

I think Gruden could be a great hire. Anyone but Shurmur. I know people say why blame him for everything but we have more talent than we're showing. Our defense is missing a lot of pieces so they can have a small break, but what the hell offense? I thought we drafted Richardson to turn around the franchise. Not get poorly utilized. It's a joke.

Re: Who is our head coach in the 2103 Opener

The two guys atop my list are Mike McCoy (OC for Denver) and Chud...

The reason? Both are very good offensive minds that adjust to the talent around them... While both are schooled in a certain offensive system, neither is married to it and play to the strengths of their offenses... This is a something that is very attractive to me: a coach who tries to get the most out of his roster and makes adjustments to do so... A lot of coordinators are deeply rooted in their systems and are too stubborn to change..

McCoy has gotten the most out of his QBs wherever he's been (Jake Delhomme, Kyle Orton, Matt Moore, Tim Tebow and now Peyton) and has fitted his offense to the strengths of his QB... The most extreme is the most recent with Tim Tebow last year...

I like Chud more for the fact he has the Ohio roots (albeit Toledo), has already coached in Cleveland and already has had lots of success as a coordinator... Again similar to McCoy, he's adjusted his offense to his QBs despite coming from the Air Coryell tree... We saw him get the most out of DA and now he's getting the most out of Cam Newton, and adjusting his offense to him...

The two other guys I'd like to see get looks are Mike Zimmer and Rob Ryan..

I don't know why, but I'm iffy on Jon Gruden... I'm not sure if I want a retread... I mean if we do I suppose Mike Sherman and Jack Del Rio would be guys to throw in the hat as well...

Re: Who is our head coach in the 2103 Opener

Pat Shurmer the 9th...

Re: Who is our head coach in the 2103 Opener

Why would we settle for more coordinators? Sorry, were not going to find the Tomlin's or Harbaugh's. I'm tired of the Crennel's and Shurmur's.Its time to get a guy with a winning track record, go contact the chin, contact Chucky, pitch them offers they can't refuse. Preach bringing back Cleveland football.

Fisher would look absolutely fucking awesome here right now. He's not fielding no dummies in STL. That team is competitive. It's because of coaching not talent, they have few of that.

What intrigues me the most is that Haslam Is going to do something big. You don't spend a billion dollars on a team and hire a coordinator before you contact the big dogs.

I also get the feeling that MH would step down and coach his mess with Banner taking over his duties.

The hot name of the moment is Ray Horton, Arizona DC. Though he needs a damn haircut. Can't take the old man with braided hair thing seriously. Looks like he does too much blow.

We've been the coordinator path and found that coordinators aren't necessarily cut out to be head coaches just because they're good coordinators or know the system you like. Like it or not, Butch Davis was our best coach since the return. He won games with players that had no talent and a terrible attitude. By all accounts, we have more talent now than then and we are worse. So I don't care who we go with, but he has to be able to motivate, not look like some idiot fan got to be coach for a day on the sidelines- staring at the play call sheet like if you do it long enough it will magically come up with the best play ever............... Wait.

...Ya think? What would you pay to get him to wear the hat for a game?

Anyway, we need a coach that's confident, not searching for a solution. Obviously someone the players respect but fear for their jobs from at the same time. I don't care if he's a coordinator, position coach or from the college level. Just find someone that you can believe in, and stop just short of giving him control of drafting.

Edit: Jay Gruden? Bengals OC

would love Cowher or Gruden, but have a hard time seeing either of them agreeing to coming here
