Chuck Booms fired from 92.3

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
so will all his "fans" at Giant Eagle still be cheering him when he's at the GE deli counter asking if they want it sliced or shaved?

Just when I thought this day couldn't get any better!! I can't stop smiling, the fact that Booms was blindsided by it is the cherry on the top.

I think I know why...

So I sometimes listen to this show in almost a hate-watch way. Joke with friends about how bad some of it is...

Today they had a call-in game where you guess if someone they name is ahead or behind the middle entry in the list. List was top 25 players that never won a title and Randy Moss was in the middle. When Junior Seau came up, Chuck made a joke about him being the best player to kill himself or something to that effect... then they played a shotgun sound effect. Remember thinking to myself how classless that was and surprised that he'd say that on morning radio. Would be shocked if that wasn't part of the reason why he was clipped.

Might as well just get rid of Kiley, or put the two new yorkas on the same program.

Kylie and Bull. Let's just get all the new Yorkkas out of our Cleveland systems in one show.

I wouldn't mind Baskin to be gone either.

He seems like a really nice guy, and perhaps I'm just jealous of his made man status involving all things Cleveland sports. He strikes me as a softball dad who somehow got this position, he's tenured, and he's not going to do anything insensitive or egregious as Chuck Booms and get himself fired. That being said, I think Phelps can be interesting if he's paired with the right guy; that's not Baskin!

I actually think Les Levine probably has this gig in the bag, he's trying to slip in and collect Chuck Booms' salary. I think Phelps and Levine give you some of the best pure Clevelander vibes from radio talk show personalities.

Baskin wouldn't be bad first thing in the morning in Booms' slot.

I dog Bull a lot, because he likes baseball and football, and basketball last. Bull has the voice to talk about football, and football only. That's why I think Bull and Karman would be outrageous.

Lastly,

Who's voice you trying to listen to first thing in the morning: Booms? or Baskin?

Booms in the morning, with that voice, was a crazy decision to begin with. I can't tell you how many times I have been in a traffic jam, driving a stick shift puttering, stop and go, flipping back to 92.3 only to have these clowns talking about Manziel 24/7 and the shitty Cleveland Browns; drove me fucking crazy, roadrage increase by tenfold hearing that half-drunk sounding Booms voice.

This to me was what I envisioned in my head every time I heard Booms' opinion, like it was coming str8 from the mouth of this guy.

Booms... If you're going to self-identify as a stand-up comedian, at least be funny once in a while.

Holy shit.

Hard to judge without hearing it, but that sounds...really, really bad. Like, so bad I have no idea how that guy has been on the radio for so long if he thought that was okay to say.

He's a shock-jock not a sports guy.

It's just a joke. Stop being so sensitive. :gay:

See how dumb I sound?

I'd like to see Ken Carmen get a better time slot. When I happen to be in the car at night, I think his show is hilarious.

The thing 92.3 doesn't seem to understand is that I listen to Mike & Mike in the morning because K&B are so bad. Then, when I get back into my car to go home from work, I continue to listen to Hooley because I think he's on par with Bull & Fox and talks more basketball, which I like. The end result is that 92.3 loses my support for both drive time shows because of their terrible morning lineup.

I actually tweeted at Fox to have more NBA guests on because him and Bull seem clueless about the NBA and he blocked me :conf (2):

I knew you'd go there, and this is like... 100x worse than a corny video making fun of pro sports rivalry.

Don't be so predictable.

Sorry, you made it too easy.

We're clearly on opposite sides of the issue, so I'll stop.

It's all good, it's an opinion-based matter and unlike others on here I don't usually insult people for their opinions. I wouldn't have said what I said about being sissies if I actually thought some people here were "offended" by the video ... :chuckle:

I heard the tail end of the show today. They had some kind of spelling-bee skit in which the word in question contained the syllable "ho". When he used it in a sentence, Chuck referred to it as something "Tyrone" might say to a female... I was barely listening, but that got my attention just as I was leaving my car. (Just a theory, I know nothing for sure)

I don't think it'd be the first time we've heard Booms say something inappropriate about black people on that show. When he was ripping on Phil Taylor for handgun hunting, he said some things that I would find offensive. The next day, he didn't correct anything when he had the chance to.

On a side-note, those two hosts (Kiley & Booms) sure do like to call each other/callers "idiots". Whenever I tune in, someone's intelligence is getting insulted.

I think the word was "Tuckahoe", which is a Native American name and a city.
