Cleveland Browns New Head Coach Search, 2014

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Someone create a Johnny Football thread so this nonsense can go there.

Browns head coaching options, go...

Right now the short list looks like O'Brien and McDaniels. I would be fine with either, I think McDaniels has potential to be a good coach, I just don't think he's that big of an upgrade over Chud.

I just look at how quick this move was made, and theres no way they don't already either A) have a guy lined up or B) have a guy in mind they are gonna throw a ton of money at to make a splash. They know this looks bad to do, there is a plan in place.

Cowher, Gruden.

Derp.

We've already got Triv saying Saban.

I bet Triv has a ton of inside sources.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23browns&src=hash">#browns</a> will let their new coach hire his staff. If not, they're gone.</p>— Mary Kay Cabot (@MaryKayCabot) <a href="https://twitter.com/MaryKayCabot/statuses/417661730643116032">December 30, 2013</a></blockquote>

Information tidbits like these lead me to believe we're all idiots for even suggesting there is a plan.

The new coach can keep the assistants? Does anyone else read this as the FO just passing the buck?

"Well, we really liked all the assistant coaches but the new guy wanted to fire them".

Seems like a pretty miserable managerial blunder.

If Chud were the only issue and they legitimately wanted to keep these guys around (for continuity) Horton and Turner would be passable replacements.

It seem like they just don't want to sack up and be responsible for wiping out the whole staff. They'll gutlessly pin that on the new guy.

We'll see how this draft plays out but if these buffoons in the FO fired Chud and staff because they didn't want Manziel then Banner and Lombardi are even more clueless than I could have originally imagined.

They're possibly enamored with an undersized, me first, jack wagon instead of listening to Norv Turner who... played QB in college, coached two pro bowl QB's and has been an NFL OC or head coach for 20+ years.

This is our front office ladies and gentleman.

No clue what you're talking about. Media hype garbage because ESPN didn't him throwing up dollar signs.

Just a quick point...

Johnny Football is currently the stupidest fucking nickname in sports.

Why do people (in the NFL) love McDaniels so much? he's not Belicheat. he sucked in Denver.

This organization man...

The best thing Josh McDaniels did as a head coach was fist pump along with the crowd in Denver to "The Hey Song".

I'm starting to like BO'B

I think he's the type of personality and the type who can overcome adversity. He's also really, really, really good with young QBs.

Johnny Manziel has written the book on/redefined what it means to be a douchebag.

Johnny Football is the name, douchebaggery is the game.

Don't get it twisted.

McDaniels did bring Denver to a 7 or 8-0 start one year. We could only wish for that kind of win streak.

6-0 to start.

That team also recorded two 4 game losing streaks in the same season.

www.joshmcdanielssucks.com if anyone really wants some insight into why this guy freaking blows.

"It felt like I was playing for an equipment manager or something, [McDaniels] was like a little punk. He came in there and said that he wanted to hear a lot from me, he wanted to know what I thought about situations. He wanted to take advantage of my veteran leadership… he said all that. But as soon as I had a game that wasn’t up to his standards, he wouldn’t talk to you or look at you.”

“I never played for a guy in my life who guys wanted to play for less,” Berger concluded. “He was just a guy you didn’t care about.”
