As of now we have McCown for 3yrs with Johnny and Shaw coming back for a second season. I don't see them drafting a dev. QB because then you'd be trying to dev the QB you draft as well as Johnny. The only way they draft a QB this year is if they trade Johnny.
My take is pretty simple. If they signed him to be the starter for 2-3 years I'm pissed. If they signed him as a backup QB I'm good with the move.
Like Hoyer he's an above average back QB who won't be an embarrassment in relief or spot start duties.
Unlike Hoyer, his time/ambition to be a starting QB in the NFL is past him. He's a backup and he knows it. Hoyer's shot to be a teams starter is now. Hoyer is not an ideal mentor to any young QB. McCown is much better prepared mentally to do that.
If they sign him to mentor and spot start for a young player (manziel or anyone else) I think the move is a good one. If they have other ideas then the browns are out if their minds.
Sorry Brady. put the ball down. Brady Quinn wants one last crack at the NFL.
The Boston Globe reported Sunday that Quinn is making a comeback attempt months after starting a broadcast career with FOX Sports. The former Browns first-round pick -- who played for five teams in a career that spanned from 2007 to 2013 -- has been working out in Florida with former NFL quarterback Jeff Christensen.
