Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Who knows if Bitonio would be playing this week if the game had more meaning. It's the preseason and the starters would only get two or three series max. Let him get healthy, because when he is right he is very good. I'm more interested in seeing all the second and first year guys progressing anyways.

They have been cautious with Coleman as well. Bitonio got back quicker than expected & has been through all of camp. Today is the last day when fans can attend camp, so I'd say Joel did alright.

Pay no mind to that loud crashing noise. It was the National Hype Train for Watson derailing. Looked pretty awful tonight.

Oh, and Brian Hoyer pulled of a Brady Quinn special by losing the ball in his wind up for a fumble.

I don't like Watson personally, arm talent just not there, but his 2nd preseason game will not prove a thing one way the other really.

Let's see how Osweiler does on Monday since that is his shot to win out the QB position pretty much. (Most of you on here would call him terrible if he throws 30+ TDs this season and we win the super bowl so that is an extremely biased opinion if I ever heard one)
how many times do we have to go over the same point

There isn't a single person on here who would be pissed off if Osweiler literally defied every shred of evidence he has even pieced together in his career and went on to be a good QB. Like batdan said no one gives a shit who the QB is we just know the likelihood of Osweiler being anything but putridly awful is as close to 0% as you can reasonably get

Your argument is basically "what if he literally becomes an entirely new player than he has been in his entire career and throws 30 touchdowns. It could happen"

Yeah, ok. Not a shred of evidence that Brock is anything but trash, but I guess we can always hold out hope that he was only pretending to be bad in Houston

You may not see how stubborn some people on this forum are towards certain players (not just Osweiler, Peppers is one as well who some people do not care what he does, will always be considered bad to them). They will call Osweiler a fluke and still want him gone even if he does make the Pro Bowl. I actually do not see him here long term since either Kizer or someone we draft in 18 will be that guy, but it is possible with a good season we do keep him starting another year or two.

Yeah, they will call a few series in a preseason game a fluke.

They should, it doesn't matter much. He's got years of tape, and its fucking awful.

I feel like this has been said often, but there's really only one poster who has been gung ho about Osweiler. If you guys like eight or nine people beating on one guy, there's a rape shed I'd like to introduce you to.

The point most people have been making about Osweiler is that he understands the nuances of the position that Brian Kelly didn't teach Kizer. I've been writing about differences between the college spread offense and pro game for a few years. It will take Kizer a while to understand everything that happens pre-snap, a little while to acclimate to the speed of the pro game. The McManamon article I posted outlined reasons Osweiler should start at least the first few games. The whole offense needs to develop, not just Kizer.

No offense Osweiler was better than Steve Young in his first two years playing. Look what happened to him when he found the right coach? Now I am not saying he will ever be that good, but who you are coached by matters a lot especially to young players and Osweiler is 26, so it is not like he isn't still young at the end of the day. Nurture in a sense is playing apart here.

Put Kizer on this team a few years ago and there is no way he could have ever succeeded since he would have been murdered by this league. Instead he is with a coach now that will try to develop him the right way and allowed him to play when he is ready rather than just throw him out there and see if he can swim. Jackson is putting him through the first level of classes and moving him up at the pace that is right for him rather than just hope he can swim and start out in the higher levels.

From being a swim instructor and swim coach for a vast majority of my life, I've seen kids fail with me but succeed with others and vice versa. Finding the right situation and the right coach does matter. If Jackson is the coach we all expect him to be and Osweiler can match the potential scouts saw in him (especially guys like Elway since he stretched for him) then him having a good season isn't out of the question, but at the end of he day it is up to him to do everything needed.

You can't even script this stuff

Living by the script in the real world is the worst way to live. Also I was always bad at going by what others wanted me to do, so I'll keep doing my own things regardless. If you like me then you do and if you don't then ya don't. Life is to short to care about all of that stuff

Either way the big day is tomorrow, since the starting spot for Osweiler is his to win, while Kizer shows if he is ready or not to start. I actually expect both to have a good game at the end of the day, but no way Kizer takes the starting spot.

Tomorrow isn't that important.

I'll still never forget Weeden looking competent in pre-season, and seriously persuading some he wasn't suddenly God awful.

Osweiller blows. Nothing is changing that. :chuckle:

Mom, I honestly thought I was gonna be raped for a second. He had the craziest look in his eyes, and at one point, he said "Brock Osweiler is better than Steve Young."
