Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just food for thought surrounding the Shannahan leaving rumors... but if the Browns trade for Cousins, do you think Shannahan stays to coach a familiar face? Let Cousins and Manziel duke it out in OTAs and camp?

Kirk Cousins makes a lot more sense than most of the ideas I've read here. He is a dropback QB who is pretty close to fully developed. I don't know if he can lead an offense better than Hoyer, but he won't be yet another rookie QB who has rarely if ever run a pro style offense. It would also buy the franchise more than one season to either fish or cut bait with Manziel.

The same Kirk Cousins that was benched in favor of Colt McCoy? Sign me up. I'd rather trade both our #1 picks to move up to #1 and draft Cody Fajardo.

Blaine Gabbert, Johnny Manziel, Tavaris Jackson 3 QB system

I see my subtle trolling is supreme. I do not want any of those quarterbacks and certainly not Gabbert or Tavaris Yackson. If I was GM of the team, I have no idea what I would even be doing. Really tough job for Farmer next year. This team is ready to compete, yet they aren't going anywhere without a good quarterback, and it's slim pickins. How do you sell signing a veteran placeholder to the team, or trotting out another unproven QB or player like Locker/Bradford who has been disappointing?

I still think Hoyer is the best option and would be most accepted in the locker room. With some more weapons around him and the return of the Mack, maybe he regains his early season form. He hit a wall midseason but I'd still give him a shot to compete with a drafted QB and Manziel.

I like Mark Sanchez just so we can have a thread titled Dirty Sanchez !!!

Don't worry, everyone knows you are a troll and you have successfully removed yourself from being taken seriously weeks ago. Good job, good effort!

That's disappointing. Not sure what the reasoning is but seems like he should be there.

Agreed. He's not at a point where he's ready to step on the field. Plus, if any other GMs hold these showcase games in high regard like Ray, he's going to be losing an opportunity to present himself.. Maybe he's just not confident enough in his skills to put himself out there..?

Really bad move by Hundley. He's a guy that needs to prove his way back into consideration. So he's either getting some bad advice, or doesn't believe in himself.

Draft Hundley/Petty in 2nd; bring back Jason Campbell who looked decent (at least Hoyer level) prior to the rib injury last year and did not add mileage this year. Dump Manziel if he does not conform and dedicate himself; or let him compete with Hundley/Petty if he is able to focus. Shaw third or PS, depending upon Manziel outcome.

I was teetering already but you lost me at Jason Campbell.

I know its easy to dismiss Campbell, but IMO he actually produced relatively well for CLE prior to being injured, after which he continued to play with reduced results. Similar to Hoyer, he showed to be a marked improvement over Weeden when given the opportunity.

If you look at his career production you will see that his play lines up well when compared to someone like Hoyer. Has a stronger arm, at least comparable accuracy, and basic athleticism to run for the chains when required (unlike Hoyer). Hoyer, of course, is likely a better leader and reader of defenses.

Campbell's career passer rating is 81.7, with 81 TDs vs. 60 INTs.

It's pretty easy to dismiss Campbell, yes.

Yeah, I hear you. Many would probably want to pay Hoyer $10M per year instead of Campbell 1.5M. Such is the NFL.
