Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Rizzo said he was told by someone in the NFC West (I'm thinking Rams) that the Browns are hot on the trail for a QB this week at the NFL meetings

Outside of trading for the #2 pick or Jay Cutler I really have no idea what they expect to accomplish this week.

Boobie: can you give us the 30 second scoop on your take on mr. grayson?

Seasoned and intelligent with good quickness and a lot of experience in being accurate in the short passing game. Enough arm strength to play at the next level.

Can get out of whack mechanically, tends to sling the ball. Not comfortable with pressure, Utah swallowed him up in that bowl game and there wasn't much they could do.

Project, 1-2 years on a bench, the right coach and he can compete for someone.

A McCown question put to Farmer was blunt: Given McCown's 12-year history, can you say he is a credible answer at quarterback?

"Here's what I would say," Farmer said. "It's the same thing as I would say about any player in the National Football League. Unless you're put in the ideal position for you to have success, does anybody really know what your track record looks like?"

These quotes really make me like Farmer, to understand this concept isn't a given at this level. He's absolutely right.

But, can he find that guy? We'll find out...

But... but... they took Zach Mettenberger in the 6th round last year!

Well Mariota will obviously not fall now, because this stonefaced admission of draft plans a month in advance of the draft will surely remain unchanged.

Think we had this discussion last year too, I learned better than to count guys like Bridgewater or Mariota as "locks" for the top selections when only a select few teams are in the market or able to make a move for a QB.

Totally willing to engage in an avi or signature bet on this. I just don't see any way Mariota lasts until pick 12. The Whisenhunt comment doesn't convince me that the Titans will take him, but I'm pretty sure someone will bite on a trade up well before 12.

Exactly, although didn't Bridgewater drop after his pro day or something? For some stupid reason like he needed gloves? I forget.

But like you said when only a few teams are really interested in using a high pick on a QB, anything can happen.

anything can happen.

And this is really what it comes down to.

I wouldn't be surprised if it does, but I certainly won't be surprised if it doesn't.

Its just not the mortal lock people think it is.
