Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Teddy fell for a reason (albeit an incredibly stupid one). I haven't heard anything negative about MM yet. Count me in the "no way in hell" he falls to 12 crowd.

That's how it was portrayed in the media maybe, but these teams did there homework far beyond a Pro Day on Bridgewater.

There has already been the "Mariota lacks desire" article as well. Another nonsense reason, sure. But there just aren't a ton of teams in that range. If that select few goes in another direction, anything can happen.

I would think Tennessee and the Jets are the two teams ahead of us that would take Mariota (besides a trade). Its weird Whisenhunt said that about Mariota and I believe the Jets GM said that Geno Smith was more developed than Mariota (or something along those lines).

They can always draft Petty or Hundley in the second if they feel like another player is better at their draft spots. Anything can happen.

Well Mariota will obviously not fall now, because this stonefaced admission of draft plans a month in advance of the draft will surely remain unchanged.

Think we had this discussion last year too, I learned better than to count guys like Bridgewater or Mariota as "locks" for the top selections when only a select few teams are in the market or able to make a move for a QB.

I was talking with Aaron Rodgers, and he agrees, QB's never fall on draft day.

Funny, Brady Quinn said the same thing to me last week.

Doug Pederson just bought a bag of day old bagels on sale...

I'd like to hear what @AZ_ has to say about Sean Mannion.

6'6 pocket QB who ran a pro style offense at Oregon State. He has a strong, accurate arm and 4 years of starting experience. His junior year he had Brandin Cooks to throw to and had an outstanding year.

He's the Pac-12's alltime leader in pass attempts, completions and yards. He's 6th alltime in touchdowns, 9th in completion percentage and 4th in INTs.

Downsides to him are that he is a little shaky under pressure, he regressed his senior year when he didn't have Cooks or a decent offensive line, he has the tendency to turn the ball over with INTs and fumbles as he only has 9" hands.

The scouting report on him is that he's not going to win you games on his arm talent but he can manage the game, run play action effectively and his big frame and college experience is best suited for a West Coast type of offense. Outside of the turnovers and the limited mobility, he sounds like Ray Farmers ideal QB.

He's probably a 3rd-5th round type guy so he is certainly obtainable. Thoughts?

I've heard rumors Rivers might be on the block for a few weeks...

Has never really done much for me, honestly.

Strange throwing motion really eats into his arm strength, he's got a really tight arm and it just doesn't look natural. Little bit clunky with the footwork and lacks athleticism.

I feel for him, he didn't really have a chance to develop much. Not only was Cooks gone, but that OL was terrible and he had little help at the skill positions.

That said, I just don't think he's a prospect.

As much as I'd like to see Rivers in brown, orange and gunmetal grey, I gotta put the chances of him making his way to Cleveland at less than 10%.

Are the reports less than true, or is the media always accurate?

I believe there were tweets that stated that Fisher said the Browns offered the 19th pick..
