Cleveland Development Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Met the guy that runs the East Bank Flats project....I wasn't aware of this, but Toby Keith's I love this bar, is going to have concerts every weekend throughout the summer.

The river boat is coming back, headed by the Metro parks to get from the East to West.

The 9 Project looks amazing.

As they discussed these housing initiatives, my only thought was......where in the hell are they going to find all these people that can actually afford to live in these places? They just seem so unreal expensive.

2 things....

1) I think the 9 Project looks good on the interior; however, the building itself is a poop stain on the City. So damn ugly.

2) Apparently, the demand for quality housing in Cleveland is there. Vacancy is very low, especially in downtown. I'm not complaining; more tax dollars.

In general, I am not a fan of brutalist architecture. But, the Ameritrust Tower nevertheless represents an important era in Cleveland architecture. I like that the city has a building designed by Marcel Breuer (and the only tall one designed by him). The building itself makes for an interesting streetscape. It certainly sticks out. And to think that the county almost razed the building when it owned it in order to build a new admin center. That would have been a tragic--no, a farce! The city of Cleveland is fortunate that the Geis Companies took it off of the county's hands.

There's some random ass huge chandelier above the street on East 14th and Euclid, and I have no clue why

If I had read back 2 pages apparently I would have known. Certainly took me by surprise.

The lighting ceremony for it is tonight (May 2nd). How does it look during the daytime? I hope it looks better than the renderings I've seen of it, for those look crappy.

It looks out of place, but it is fairly hard to make a 20 foot chandelier look natural outside. Wouldn't classify it as some spectacle unlit either way.

Just came back from Dazzle the District. Just an amazing event. Might have been a top-5 night I've ever had in Cleveland. Very proud of the city. I've been pretty busy with work, but I'll try to update this thread more often.

Bump for Info.. When are both parts of the Flats supposed to be completed?

"A few of the upcoming dining and entertainment venus include: Toby Keith’s Bar & Grill, The Cleveland Beer Cellars, The Big Bang (a dueling piano bar), Flip Side, FWD:, Panini’s Bar & Grill, Crop Kitchen & Vine and Cropicana. All of which will be part of the Phase II opening in spring 2015."

I'm pumped about this.

This is a loose interpretation of "development", but important nonetheless...

Also, the North Coast Harbor (by the Rock Hall) has officially begun being conducive to boat traffic/practical civilian use. I can't find the rest of the pics, but the ribbon cutting is today.

Don't care if you're red or blue so long as your money is green.

Wonder if the lack of flight options at Hopkins will kill this? Would hope not.
