Cleveland Development Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
On the public square redesign, it looks like Ontario St will definitely dead end at the square to vehicle traffic. What about Superior? Will that also dead end at the square or is that space in the middle still a road?

Hasn't been decided yet, but will probably be reduced to bus traffic only. It is being narrowed regardless, and really I just don't see it making sense leaving it open to traffic.

This high occupancy downtown is making it really hard to get an apartment. I am looking to move in in August went on the waitlist in Jan and I am still twentieth on the list.

Are you looking exclusively in downtown? Tremont, Hingetown, Ohio City, etc. are all strongly up-and-coming (especially Hingetown right now). If you have a car, I'd look this way for certain.

On a side note: The City of Cleveland has officially upped it's budget for road fixes from $4.4 million per year to $10 million a year. Pretty encouraging news as the streets are terrible. Bad thing is that's all sunk money because the weather ruins roads annually...

Yup for right now looking at downtown and walking to work distance. Once I save up some money I'll probably look at townhomes and condos in treemont and hinge city.

I'm looking downtown/Ohio City/Tremont as well in August. Maybe even University Circle. If anyone has suggestions please send them my way. No clue where Hingetown is..

Also, the design of the pedestrian bridge has been leaked.

I'd steer clear of University Circle, it is really isolated from downtown and the east side. Will be a 15 minute drive anywhere you go. Downtown, Ohio City, or Tremont are way more accessible and there is more to do there.

Leaked? I posted these renderings on November 13th. Those were the options being considered and they chose one of those designs (the first one I posted). Post #208 in this thread.

If its close to the Red Line he can take that to work downtown and not have to drive. One new station and another under construction right over there. Not sure how long it takes to get downtown from university circle on the Red Line though. I can get there in 20 minutes from downtown Shaker on the Blue.

You guys are more in tune with local news than I am...is it true there is talk about merging East Cleveland with Cleveland?

it'll never happen but I'd be ashamed to call myself a clevelander if It did.
Let them merge with Euclid.

It's a lot more possible than many think. East Cleveland is in dire straits. It'd be irresponsible to not explore every option to help those folks find a way to stop sinking.

Yes. East Cleveland on verge of default. Not sure what kind of help the city may get if the two merge. They simply have no tax revenue.

The new redline is in Little Italy. To downtown the RTA takes around 15 to 20.
