Cleveland Indians End of Season Game Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I find this interesting.

Sizemore has played 3 games so far after the DL. Kipnis has played two games after his.

Sizemore played 3 games for Columbus before coming back. Kipnis didn't play any games in Columbus.

Sizemore is 0-12 or something like that after 3 games, with about 4 SO's or so.

Kipnis is 3-6 in two games with one SO.

Just find it interesting.

My God. Just stop. I listed a few players and NOT all of them. Are you this way with your wife or girlfriend? If so, God help her. I do want you to stop being this way in here though. It's tiring.

EVERY damn player we have is tradeable. Well, most of them. Are you telling me Chris Perez is untradeable? How about Sipp or Smith? How about Tomlin?

Another thing, and I'm very sure the all-knowing b00bie knows this; One man's garbage is another man's treasure.

Just stop with the non-sense. Just stop. I never stated those players I listed was ALL the assets we had. Never said. Not once. You keep trying to say I did. Just stop.

And BTW: Find me that post about you saying the batting order doesn't matter. Whatever hell you posted there was NOT what you posted back then because every member in here at that time thought it was a ridiculous thing to say. So either you are lying about what you actually posted, or you edited your original post to make it look better.

Is the reason you only list players at Triple-A or the big league roster because those are the only ones you've heard of?

Just find it interesting.

But no, I can't imagine Josh Tomlin has the trade value you think he does...Or the Indians 7th inning relievers for that matter.

The Indians don't have the assets to go get a star player....And the Josh Tomlin's and Raffy Perez's of the world aren't going to change that.

Have been reading and checking the boards everyday....for some reason havent been posting a lot but I am trying to get back into it, on that note, in reading about DougHeli's and b00bie's opinions, I do think we have assest's to aquire players in the off season, however that depends on how highly each team may have some of our players ranked, who knows some teams may have tomlin as nothing more than an average sp, other teams may see the potential of a gregg madux type, a guy who has control and hits his spots.

Thats just one player and a thought of how teams may view him, with that said we also have many players in our minors that may have great potential and may be of value might be for second tier players though as b00bie mentioned. Who knows.

But I have some questions for you guys, I value ur opinions on this and so I was wondering, what are we going to do about the following:

3b- do we develop chisenhall, or do we bring in a guy who can hit,

1b- what the hell do we do santana needs to be behind the plate not a great 1st basemen defensively IMO, also i cant stand to see lou marson behind the plate anymore, hes too much of a liability on an offensive team that already struggles.

OF- will we retain sizemore, I hope we can keep him, Im a huge fan, I believe if healthy he will produce, but we need power in the corners No more austin kearns plz...

and whats gonna happen with matt laporta? FO doesnt seem to happy with him from what i have been reading and hearing on the radio.

If you all could just chime in with ur opinions obviously none of us knw for sure... just would be great to hear some ideas other than my own.

Thanks!

One player had surgery. The other was basically resting contusions (bruises) and could still do a workout. Not saying this explains the slump, but i can see how Kipnis could stay in the same shape while recovering while Grady would not have. Still surprised Grady came back so fast after surgery.

I'll throw my opinions on these guys out there.

Chis - he can hit, but he struggles against left handed pitching. I think as he gets sustained playing time you'll see that he has a nice bat. The good news about Chis is he's only 22 right now. He's got tremendous upside. So to answer your question, they'll develop Chisenhall.

First base - currently the biggest question mark on the team, IMO. Matt LaPorta will get another look soon, and if I were a betting man, I would guess that someone in the organization will let him know that it's now or never. If he can't produce at the plate through the end of this year, he might be mired in AAA for the rest of his career. A huge disappointment, IMO. Carlos Santana will be an awesome hitter in this league, but his highest value for the team will be at catcher, not at 1B or DH. In other words, his numbers look great coming from the catching position, but not so much from the 1B or DH position. Besides, DH is taken by Hafner for another season. So my guess is that they play Santana more at catcher after LaPorta is back.

OF - I'm also a fan of Sizemore, when healthy. I think there is no way they don't pick up his option for the final year of his contract next year. Just my opinion - I'm sure others would disagree with this. But with Sizemore, Choo, and Brantley all under club control for next season, the only real question is the fourth outfielder. I think the fourth OF will be a huge part of the team next season, given all the injuries we have seen from these three players. For that reason, I'd like to try and re-sign Fukudome if possible. A veteran player who shows discipline at the plate and can play all three OF positions - AND who can bat almost anywhere in the lineup.

And to b00bie's point, I think the blue chip prospects that we have remaining are either too young or coming off an injury year, and therefore would not be considered as valuable a trading chip as we had in both Pomeranz and White - for next season. The club decided to go with Jimenez as a unique trade opportunity, and we'll see next season if that big gamble paid off. Give Antonetti credit for having cajones if nothing else.

Agreed 100 percent.

Who are our young blue chips at this point? Do we even have anything in this farm to look forward to? Lindor and Knapp are all I can think of and they are light years away.

My point exactly.

Just fuck off Boobs. I'm fucking so damn tired of your so fucking damn condescending ways. FUCK YOU. F.U.C.K. YOU.

GTFOH. Now.

Don't EVER reply and quote one of my postss ever again. I said Never. Not. Ever. K? If you cannot and will not quote my entire post and reply to my entire post without taking it totally out of context in order to score points with your silly and childish little kids games you LOVE playing in these threads..... then fuck off. Now.

I almost never quote and reply to you anymore. Why? Because of how you are. I avoid you. Totally. STOP quoting me. Stop doing your crap. I don't want to hear it anymore.

Stop.

BTW: Have you thought about why you are the only one in here who I cannot debate with in somewhat of a calm way? You are the only one. How about the fact you seem to go at it with at least one member in here per day about some damn silly kind of thing? Yeah, you do. Sit back and stop it awhile. I'm sick of it. I won't take it. I know others might be afraid for whatever reason to lay into you. I'm not. So stop.

I like you Doug but this is how I envisioned your post.

In the last 3 years Grady hasn't played more than 106s games and hasn't had an OPS over .800. Why are you banking that he is just going to return to form? Boobie lives in this fantasy world, where players' careers never get derailed by injuries, they always back bounce back. Players never fall off the cliff, they just get into slumps. I think 8.5 million is too much for Grady, but we'll see I might be wrong. And on a sidenote: if Brantley plays LF instead of CF, his value is basically nothing.

Weren't you the one who said he wasn't even that good before the injury?

Weren't you the one who said he wasn't even that good before the injury?

No, that wasn't me. I thought he was very good before the injury, maybe slightly overrated but a very good player. I just don't see him being the player he was 5 years ago ever again.

Have I ever said I do?

No.

7 weeks is fast after a sports hernia surgery? That's very slow actually for that kind of surgery. Anyway, that's not why he was out for so long. His knee was the reason it was over 6 weeks from what I've read and heard.

Kipnis had a torn oblique muscle and a pulled hamstring. The bad oblique is not a good thing for anyone.

I'm anxious to see when and how well Sizemore does the rest of the season.

And NO; the Indians are the dumbest team going if they pay the guy 8.5 million next year. Either we redo his salary for one year that is based on incentives, or we say bye-bye to him.
