Cleveland Indians Spring Training Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I guess 6 of those homers were given up by one pitcher, Julio Teheran, who is 21 and trying to break camp with ATL for the first time. Wonder why they kept him in there for the slaughter. Can't be good for his confidence.

I would imagine spring training is full of agenda's. Even before the game is played you know when you're playing/pitching and for how long. Still doesn't make sense though.

Along those lines - Ubaldo was quoted as saying he was only going to throw 3 of his 5 pitches today.

Don't want to sound like I'm making excuses - b/c Ubaldo needs to pitch well, and soon - just relaying the info.

People care about Spring Training?

I could be mistaken but haven't they talked about having Ubaldo hone in on his best 3 of the 5 pitches for the year anyways and use the 2 other pitches at spot moments. I may be thinking of someone else but this would make sense after what he said anyways.

people still care about the Browns?
Don't understand how that's relevant to what I said. If Ubaldo is healthy he should be fine, don't care how he does in Spring Training as long as he starts the season with a clean bill of health.

Haven't heard that but would be interesting if true. If you find where you heard that and could post it I'd love to see it.

Also - LaPorta needed to come out and show he could work a count this spring - yet all he's done is strike out.

I get that he sucks at hitting everything other than fastballs, but still don't understand how his walk rate has fallen off like it has. That is something that normally translates to the big leagues.

Does anyone want to give me our projected starting 5 rotation this season?

Everyone knows the Browns get away with murder here lol. I take shots at the Dolans all the time, but the Indians are a much better run team than the Browns.

1. Masterson
2. Ubaldo
3. Tomlin/Lowe
4. Tomlin/Lowe
5. Multiple below average pitchers competing

Basically this, although I think it'll be more:

Masterson
Ubaldo
Tomlin
Lowe
Slowey.

So no Carmona for now?

Who? Oh, you mean Roberto Hernandez. :chuckles:

No, he's still dealing with the Dept. of Homeland Security. He might not be back all season. And frankly, that's OK with me.

I hope Slowey doesn't pitch like his last name. HEHEHEHE
