If you don't like Mike Brown, drafting Bennett would be a great way to get him to resign :chuckles:

Pavlovic, Gooden and Hickson couldn't get him to resign. I think he can handle Bennett.

I don't think Bennett is any worse than those guys, just thinking it would be such a troll move in a draft oozing with defensive talent.

A coaches job is to get the talent to achieve. I think Mike has has had's full with the team achieving the way he would want to defensively BUT he'll get them understand the concepts.

Bennett will also improve on that side of the ball. Rare is the young talented player who just looooooooves to play defense. Also, like D'Wreck said...it would take some serious balls for Chris Grant to take this kid. I think CG might have them as well.

Whats the one thing those players had in common besides giving Mr.Potato head a deep fry?
They didn't have good instincts..they were clueless on the D-side of the ball.

I know but is Bennett clueless or is it just a physical thing?
I haven't seen him enough to know.

if it's the latter well they might think he can overcome it. If it's the former he won't.

He has the physical tools, but I'm not sure if his lack of defense is linked to motivation, coaching or just idiocy. I've heard that defense just isn't high on his list of priorities at the moment, that's not good but it's something you can hope to change.

Out of all the top prospects, Bennett is the guy I'd be most disappointed if the Cavs ended up drafting. I can't get behind a 4 who doesn't make his living in the paint. I don't understand what makes Bennett such a better prospect than Derrick Williams either. If the Cavs are going to take an offensive 4, I'd rather take Zeller, despite his softness.

Really good point. Is there any good reason that Bennett's in the conversation and Zeller isn't? He brings the same athleticism and scoring with better size and work ethic.

I'm willing to put Zeller in the conversation, but not ahead of Bennett. At least Bennett has a chance of becoming a decent defender in the NBA given his physical tools.

The difference between Bennett and Derrick Williams is that Bennett is stronger and has shown more of an ability to body up with people in the paint.

No I didn't say Bennett is a better prospect than Williams. This reminds me of that situation.Williams claimed he could play the 3 , and it's been seen so far that he can't.
Well the fact that Minnesota wants to part with him is either they're impatient,or he can't adjust to the pro-level.
Is that going to be the same thing with Bennett?
If I'm Grant, I want to get the best player out of this draft, plaus fill some holes.

I would say it's the combination of Bennett being a freshmen, having an NBA body, and thus having the ability to be more of a physical presence inside. Bennett was able to showcase his skills being the guy at UNLV where we didn't see the full game of Zeller at Indiana with their stacked team. Cody has probably been tearing up workouts and playing his way into the top 7.

People are disappointed in Tyler Zeller's toughness so they aren't keen to bringing in another Zeller, especially since Cody struggled against physical defense in NCAA. Tristan looked extremely overwhelmed his rookie year too. I would expect a player like CZ who is bigger, more athletic, and has a high IQ to be able to figure it out at the next level. Another plus with Cody is he is a PF first, but he could slide over to C if the matchup dictates it. You could say the same about Bennett sliding over to the 3, but I think CZ would be a more effective 5 than Bennett at the 3.

I'm not sure I agree that Bennett has better physical tools than Zeller for the PF position.

Bennett has more length and a stronger frame and, even though he did not participate in the combine testing, Bennett is known to be very quick for his size.

I would take Zeller's 5 inch advantage in height over Bennett's 2 inch advantage in wingspan. And Zeller is also very quick for his size. The only real advantage Bennett has is his stronger frame, and I don't think that alone negates Zeller's higher effort level and bball IQ.
