I kinda forgot about the game, checked the score at halftime and saw that all our starters had really high +/-. So I stayed up way past my bedtime to watch the 2nd half and I'm glad I did.

These types of games are what I was hoping for during this season...this is what I was talking about when I thought this season would be more exciting than last. Even if we lost, it's great to see our young guys being the difference makers.

People talk about the weak east and everything, but isn't every team really pretty good these days? I mean after Suns, Bulls, NYK, and Cavs the jump to the next team is pretty high, even if the Wiz and Charlotte kinda suck. I think they are underachieving. I'd say there are only 6 or so weak teams in the NBA

Also, not having any spacing or and not taking threes is just a death wish at this point in the NBA.

I do really think Collin and Cedi even more so are putting it together. They are doing the right things to get better, and Collin said last night, "I need to get better defensively".

He is no Kyrie, but in at least one way that is very good. He specifically mentions and in fact brings up his weaknesses. He says he needs to get his guys involved more and play better defense. He has even said he needs to take the 3 more confidently. That is the 3 things people complain about the most with him and that is where is focus is. It also looks like he has been working on those things.

Is he a top 8 redraft in year 2 or 3 will determine how effective of a draft pick Sexton was for Koby. I thought he played a very controlled game last night so it seems like he’s coming along but in the NBA you’re either an efficient scorer, shooter or elite passer so improvement in all areas is a must defense included. There are fanbases with worse prospects in year 2-3 who are still keeping the faith so I’m surprised at some of the snarky remarks a few posters make about our rookie (no issues with analytical data or poignant criticism about his game but people act like there were 5 gems we could’ve taken as if the Nets didn’t screw us...maybe it’s the Kyrie trade lol)

I think Collin took it as a slight that he was taken out of the game for a defensive stop late last night (laughed, said something demonstrative then high fived a random assistant behind the bench). Pure speculation but I’m going to guess he said something along the lines of “I’ll never be taken out for defense purposes again.” We shall see because he should definitely at least be a pest if you’re going to get scored on.

Would anyone say there's something that this kid has, skill or talent-wise, that says he's in the top 50 in the NBA in any way? Just one? Speed? Quickness? Anything? I hate to be really negative, but I see virtually nothing. Doesn't shoot well, not a good defender, not really very quick, but has OK speed end to end. Certainly doesn't see the floor well, and certainly can't get steals. OK, one thing: shoots FTs well. Really, he looks like backup combo guard to me, but, again, maybe I'm being negative. Still, usually you see something where you're like - this guy has talent, but he's not using it right yet. I just don't see it.

This is a bit premature, especially for a 19 year old picked 8th, no?

We’ll know in 2-3 years.

The Cavs do NOT want to win this year. It does nothing long term. They need to secure a top 5 pick, hopefully #1 or #2 and go from there.

He's up the floor every time and everyone else continues to bring it up. Like he is the first one down the floor a lot.

He really hasn't been attacking the rim this year, but has started to. I think his finishing has greatly improved. He is drawing fouls again, and looks good.

This is a pretty tough position to put him in, but he is getting better. More ball movement and better spacing will really help him. I think focusing on the young guys development is going to happen more after allstar.

He is not playing his game right now, he is being forced to play a team game. I think despite some flashes like his 29 point games, he is way more raw than we think he is. He needs lots of reps. I thought they were ruining him, but he has been working on his weaknesses. I think he has a better grasp of what he is doing than we think.

Delly said he is doing the right things studying film, and that with his work ethic, "he has a great chance". I don't know what that means exactly, but I trust Delly in this.

I've heard of the work ethic and desire. It's what's needed to be a good player. I'm still waiting to see where the raw talent lies.

6'2" isn't bad size for a PG but he seems to play small if that makes sense.
Some guys seem to play bigger then their size would indicate (Chris Paul is a great example the dude is short for the NBA but he gets boards and plays defense like's he bigger).

Maybe this will get better with the extra mass/strenght he'll gain from maturing

I think getting stronger is going to help him a lot. He needs to absorb contact better, not get pushed out of the way as easily, and if he can hoist 3's the same way he shoots a 2, he is going to be a very good 3 point shooter.

His scouting report from college said he plays bigger than he is. If that is true, he needs to get stronger to show it in the NBA.

His biggest problem defensively is his contests. He doesn't bother shooters at all because of his lack of reach and technique. He needs to start jumping in order to compensate.

For me, it is too early to say. He gets a lot of feedback on the bench and I mean A LOT. However, the only one that he can probably relate to is Delly but there is a huge difference in BB IQ and athleticism between them to translate on the court. He is always getting talked to by Channing, TT, Delly and Drew. On the bad side, he also gets input from JC and Hood which I am not sure what they tell him. There may be too many things going through his mind. He went from having Hill to Delly providing guidance and they are different in style and IQ. An example I see every game with him is his hesitation with decisions and shooting. I think he is thinking way too much and not just playing basketball.

I hope it clicks but there are indications that he will either be a boom or bust and not a long time time role player. Just my 2 cents worth.

He just turned 20. Let him play and hopefully grow.

This play gives me hope.

Hence, the first sentence. “too early to say”
Exactly. After every game people are deciding what he will be. Good or bad. For a 19-20 year old 8th pick in the draft on a crappy team where he has no luxury to ease into things I think he has done damn good

And granted this was in a partial transition / fast-break but look at dat spacing. If he continues to work on his handles, with his shiftiness and twitchiness, he can take anyone one-on-one. That's why spacing is so important. Showed some nasty stuff in the Lakers game too.
