Good luck finding the "source" of murderers and eliminating it. The fuck is this, Minority Report? I wish I could see we have discovered the murderers gene and will now abort all babies that have it, but that is garbage and impossible. People killing people...we've seen this as far back as history goes, and we will continue to see it until mankind becomes extinct. Then you'll just have animals killing each other.

I know it's sad and we all want to find the source of this and discuss how we can prevent this from happening in the future and I totally agree that is a valid discussion, but I think Jigo's post is the most on track I've seen in this thread. There is no end all solution out there for solving violence guys... there just isn't.

Not directed at any one person here at RCF. But as a man with 2 step daughters ages 5 and 10............"Guns don't kill people............" Fuck you. Yes they do. I own 4 rifles and a pistol. If the US government wanted them right now , today, I'd hand them over. 18 kindergarteners dead, why? Because some asshole was able to take a couple 9mm Glocks into a school. Had this asshole wanted to kill some people and not been able to use a gun, but say he uses a knife. He might have been able to kill 2-3 at most before someone stopped him. This kinda shit doesn't happen in England, why, because people don't have guns like they do here in the USA.

I fear for my step daughters. I fear that when they say goodnight on any given night I may not see them again. If it takes stronger gun laws to remove that fear, then so be it.

You're right on England, that's all I've been reading about. It's just devastating.
 
When people say "increasing gun control," what exactly are you referring to? What do you want done? How would you stop people like this from getting them illegally?

I'm always curious on this one where people's thresholds are for how far we should go with gun control.

My opinion on it is still evolving.

there was only one shot fired in the largest school massacre of the history of the US. If somebody wants to kill, they will. There are plenty of other ways to kill.

Correct, you do not hunt with an assault rifle. However, a stock .223 is not an assault rifle. This guy had mods added to the gun to make it an "assault rifle". It looks like a cool gun, but does a scope, a silencer, and a folding stock make a gun any more deadlier? I dont think so.

Did you seriously just say you don't think that a silencer makes a gun more deadly? And the sole purpose of all three of those mods you mentioned was to make a gun more deadly.

You may be willing to hand them over, but would a mass murderer, or a mentally unstable criminal be just as willing?

This is my greatest fear as a teacher every single day and I can honestly say that no law would ever be able to take away that fear without my having to tell myself multiple bold-faced lies.
