Dan Gilbert Statement

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I liked the letter also, but he shouldn't have guaranteed that Cleveland would win before Miami. Right or wrong that wasn't needed. Everything else was fine with me.

Don't leave. The quality posters here are getting drowned in the recent influx of, well, subpar posters.

There isn't a huge number of posters here whose posts I actually stop to make sure I read every time, and you're one of them. You always put a lot of thought into each posts, you punctuate properly, and you care about quality. I like your posts a lot. Except the ones about politics. :p

But seriously, don't leave. We're gonna need everyone we can get to hold down the fort during the rebuilding process.

For some reason when I read this post it made me think that you were talking about the rebuilding process for RCF. I thought you were talking about the amount of work that is going to have to go into this site to clean up the mess LeBron caused by attracting so many idiot posters. :chuckles: Oh, and love the Avy.

I loved the letter though. When I read it, I realized he was talking out of his ass about winning a championship before LeBron does. Still, I loved the passion that came through in the letter. For a dude from Detroit he sure seems to get what it means to be a Clevelander.

Also, to those who mentioned that Gilbert has been getting more flak from the national media than LeBron has, that simply isn't true. Hell a guy like J.A. Adande (who just annoys me usually) said Gilbert's letter was better than the LeBron show.

Oh, and it is so weird to admit that I actually agree with Skip fucking Bayless.

I was never a big LeBron fan. I respected his ability and what he brought to this team, but I never liked his attitude. I have 4 Cavs jerseys and not one was for LBJ. His bandwagoning of all the best teams in all of the different sports just shows that he didn't really understand the true spirit of sports. It's about competition, going out there and winning. It isn't supposed to be easy. LeBron took the easy way out last night just like he took the easy way when he was a kid, by supporting the Cowboys, Yankees, and Bulls. He didn't have what it takes to win himself, so he followed to other stars to make life easier for himself.

It's tough to imagine any of the other faces of the NBA doing that. I also think this hurts the NBA. I would have rather seen LeBron go to New York than Miami. It would have been entertaining to watch LeBron and Amare against Wade and Bosh. Who the Hell wants to see all the best players on the same team?

I praised him for his letter last night, but Dan Gilbert is getting ripped pretty hard this morning by the national media. Ironically, he's deflected some of the negative attention from LeBron James onto himself. Rather than looking like the victim, others are now viewing the Cavaliers owner as a vengeful, unloyal owner. One ESPN talking head claims that an agent told him he won't send any players to Cleveland.

I'm sure it helped Gilbert to vent, but I think, ultimately, his statements may prove to do more harm than good. It's just more proof that this team will have to be re-built through the draft rather than free agency.

I am not going to miss the LeBitch fans on this forum and in my own personal life.

Good riddance to the LeBitch and all his nut-huggers.

Your avatar is disturbing i think it should be disallowed, im sorry.

And that's why you say fuck it. GO ALL IN. Burn every fucking bridge with LBJ as possible. Fuck it, make the entire league hate him for all I care. Gilbert's image can be rebuilt. The kind of shit I'm sure he has on LBJ and the league itself is just too priceless to sit on. You've already gone for the low blow, might as well take a shit on his chest while you're at it.

If not, there was no point for that statement. You don't get ahead in business without being vindictive and cutthroat. Now is not the time to puss out. Makes this shit the summer of crackhead Gloria, LeBitch's entourage of women, his payment to Savannah to stay out of the public eye, everything. It all needs to come out in the worst possible way.

I would go out of my way to ruin everything about LeBitch's career, life, reputation, etc.

Dan Gilbert does not need no sympathy from anyone. He is just out there keeping it all real. We knew all along this is coming. Wine and Gold alluded to this kind of reaction from DG and this is its realization.

Your avatar is freaking me out, dude. It's scary. Change it before I do that myself.

Will Pluto and Windy write a book about it?

Gilbert's letter was a business move. He was simply attempting to keep the Cleveland ticket holders from bailing on the team so he won't lose all of his money. He's trying to fool fans into thinking the team can win so they'll keep buying tickets. simple as that. As much as i like his letter, he can't possibly believe that the Cavs have a chance at competing. He just wrote the letter to fire up the fans and sell tickets. He's a business man.

The problem is I don't think you can make people hate LeBron with your comments. People have already chosen sides on this issue, for the most part. LeBron is going to lose popularity from this, but I think it's best to drop this issue rather than looking vengeful and bitter.

Gilbert did enable LeBron and his entourage while he was here. That much can't be questioned. There's things he did that he apparently can't even go public with, even though I'm sure he would like to. That puts him in somewhat of a no-win situation.

I really think it's best to go into damage control and take the high road on this issue. Gilbert said his peace and it was a mouthful...now it's time to move on, even though the pain & hurt remains.

And that's where I choose to differ. I'm not worried if people hate LBJ. I'm not worried if people would hate Gilbert if he told all.

As a vindictive asshole, I would do everything in my power to ruin LBJ. I have the feeling that Dan Gilbert is a vengeful man and this is just the tip of the iceberg.

In Gilbert's place, I'd be setting up a nationally televised press conference/live chat with him for 2 hours on any network other than ESPiN. A 100% complete tell all. I'm vindictive enough that I wouldn't mind throwing myself under a bus just to fuck LeBitch harder. I've cost myself jobs to ruin other people. It's totally in my character.
