Meanwhile Rookie NBA coaches like Mike , Kerr, and Blatt have secured the first and 2nd seeds and second year coach Jason Kidd has the Bucks in the playoffs with a winning record to which Stevens hasnt accomplished yet in the same time frame.

HOW DARE YOU CALL BLATT A ROOKIE COACH! :chuckle:

I think one aspect that might be advantageous for Blatt is that the Euroleague playoffs have both a traditional series format and sudden death. The quarter finals are best of 5 and the semis and finals are a single game. I think the shorter series length puts a premium on the ability of the coach to make adjustments quickly since there are fewer games as well as get an early steal when not having home court. Maccabi stole game 1 in its quarterfinal series on the road last season. Then with the final 2 rounds being single-elimination, Blatt clearly knows how to draw up a genius gameplan when it matters most. I feel like things like that could come in handy when Blatt inevitably fields the rookie "oh you haven't dealt with a game 7" or something like that.. Not saying it's going to help immensely, but I think Blatt will prove effective when making adjustments, etc through the series. Many media types and bloggers think he's going to get steam-rolled in this aspect, and I just don't see it happening.

- This is a first for this team, and the first for the Cavs in the last 5 years. We don't neet to be thinking about anything except beating Boston right now.

- We had a really good rest and a really good active practice. Same tomorrow, but less intensive.

- The team needs to keep playing our regular game. Take our intensity and focus level up a notch or two or three.

- Our big 3 can create and find their way to score, but they also are very good at finding the other guys in their spots, and the guys know how to play off them, so that's a lethal combination.

- There are not many players in the playoffs right now that have LBJ's experience and understanding of the moment. So we trust him to do the right things.

- Coach refuses to 'put the cart before the horse' and think about what's gonna be in the end. We have a lot of tough basketball ahead of us. We are at the beginning of this process and hopefully will be the same good team we were since Jan, and grow into a successfull playoff team. It's unfair for people to claim we should do this or do that (referring to being favorites to win the title), because this team hasn't done anything yet at this stage. We have to work very very hard and work one step at a time.

- We lean on LeBron a lot all year, as did other teams that he played for. He is coming fresh for the playoffs. He played his lowest MPG in his career and the fewest games in a season. He's focused, in great shape and ready to go. His presence is invaluable.

- LeBron will lead mentally and emotionally. But this can't all be on LeBron. This is a team effort and everybody have to do their part.

- Kyrie is healthy and looked great in practice today.

- We're coming healthy to the playoffs. Together with the medical and physical staff we did a good job this year of keeping everybody fresh. Except for Andy, which is not a fatigue issue, we are a full healthy unit.

- We've shown we can play different kinds of basketball with different kinds of lineups. There are many different factors that are gonna impact the results in the playoffs. The most important thing is a consistent defensive presence and approach, and resposibility level in terms of taking care of the ball. We can do that.

- What gives Blatt confidence going forward is the fact that with all that's been happening (with LeBron coming back, Love signing and the media following) all teams in the league always brought their A game against us and tried to knock us down. And hopefully that strenghtened us and made us ready for the challenges ahead. Coach thinks it has.

- Everybody is anxious and ready to play.

- Boston are athletic, ambitous, play really hard and play right. There's more than enough things to be concerned about. They're leading the NBA in 4th quarter scoring.

- People are very hungry here (in Cleveland) for success and want their sport teams to make them proud. And we will try to achieve that.

- Coach says he's lucky to be coaching superstars whose heart and mind is in the right place.

- Blatt asked about this being his first playoffs - Smiles and says "again, this is not my first playoffs". Says he would not consider himself a novice but this is his first year in the league, he acknowledges that, he is still learning, staff and players certainly help him. Thinks he did a pretty good job learning and getting up to speed this year, and this will be another step.

- A lot of credit to the medical staff and the physios and the guys themselves for taking care of themselves and helping us be healthy for the playoffs.

- We found a good flow to how to rotate our players, and I don't expect that to change.

- This is not an easy first round matchup and that's all that is on our mind right now, how to beat Boston.

Translation: "we're about to kick Boston's ass but I'm gonna blow a little smoke and pretend that they aren't just a little pebble to be kicked aside as we move on to bust the big rocks."

Attaboy Blatt, go get 'em! :box2:

Is euro league single elimination? That's got to be a pretty good train gang ground for the playoffs. All year I've believed that blatts flexibility and creativity will be an asset in the playoffs. I'm really looking forward to that moment he just throws out an unconventional line up or defense. I just hope hubie is doing the colour commentary so he can explain it to the audience

Maybe, but I'm not 100% sure. In single elimination, you just need to find one new vulnerability or a suprise. In a seven game series, it's often more about the process of game to game adjustments. One novelty linup won't win a series and there usually are not of surprises left if the series goes for 7 games. My perception was that many of the unconventional linups that Blatt rolled out in the regular season were total stinkers. Roling out a lineup with 4 deep bench guys rarely works in the NBA. The level of top NBA talent is too high. I'm sort of nervous about Blatt throwing out junk lineups in the playoffs if it means sitting the Cavs best players.

Euroleague starts out in a league system with 4 divisions (you play each team in your division twice). The 4 best teams from each division move onto the Top 16 phase, which has only two divisions and is also played in a league system (play each team in your division twice).
Top 4 teams from each division qualify to the quarter finals in which every team plays against a team from the other group, depending on their standings. 1 from group A plays 4 from group B, 2 plays 3.
The quarter finals are a best of 5 series.
The teams qualifying from the quarters move onto the final-4 where it's sudden death and the semis and final are one game at a previously decided upon court (this year in Madrid).

David is an amazing coach and a coaching legend in euro basketball and was considered by many the best coach in Europe by far, this guy has won in every single place he has coached, even with very under budget teams vs the giants of Europe he still won with not so great rosters.

Blatt has near 900 wins and 18 titles in his coaching career - This guys knows basketball and hes a winner, all he cares about is winning.

we had a stretch when we were 14-1 in the last 15 games against the west, preparation and game plans for each game was amazing and top notch. we are all very lucky we have this great coach, and not some scrub washed up "NBA" coach who never won anything in his life. I'm telling you right now when Blatt's career will be over he will be right up there with pop and phil!

True. I was thinking more love at the 5 with bron shump smith and Irving. Run kyrie off a bron pick. Just something we haven't seen much
