Blatt realized pretty quickly that there wasnt much practice time between games. so rolling out unconventional lineups to just roll them out would be an extension of practice in my opinion.

Unconventional lineups can be used to disrupt the flow of the game. to set tempo and force the opposing team to make adjustments. I dont see Blatt as gimmicky but as a tactician.

junk lineups we've seen before the playoffs that came out playing man might come out playing zone.
Plays that may have called for one guy to cut may have someone else cut. Im excited to see Blatt coaching a playoff series. I think coaches have more impact during these series than they do in the regular season.

Loved that he stayed big when boston tried to go small with olynyk at the 5. Also, the fabled rumor that he would "utilize love as a weapon in the post during the playoffs" seemed to be true. I thought he outcoached the almighty brad stevens today, and adjusted his lineups/defense.

I mentioned it in the game thread during the game.
The Celts tried going small but Blatt trusted our D and they did a good job, on the other side of the court it looked like we are playing a high school team with their small lineup. Passes flyng over defenders heads and shit.

Yeah he said it in his presser.
Said his son couldn't make it since he's playing for his team in Israel.

Stevens definitely didn't look more impressive than Blatt to me in game 1. They looked on par.

Props to that guy. He didn't have 3 max players to go up against the King. But it's understandable that young scrubs tend to work harder when they're the underdog and they're pushed up against the wall. A job well done. But I bet he's gonna get eviscerated the next 3 games.

Stevens is going to be a really good HC. Boston's lucky to have him. Imagine him coaching the Wizards instead of Randy Wittman.

Blatt was solid making changes in game today, especially in the 2nd half when Boston went small.

I liked how Blatt let the team grow out of some of their early struggles, such as not calling timeouts when Boston opened up some leads. Honestly, I thought it was a well-coached game on both sides. Boston's biggest blunder was going zone late in the 2nd which killed them because our shooters got hot, but if you watched some of the other games, both teams should consider themselves fortunate. Poor Toronto and Washington.
