There are some brilliant basketball minds on this staff and on this roster.

Those same minds are almost all alpha type personalities who understand their roles, do not quit, and have that 'dog' in them. You are seeing that as each game goes by in the playoffs.

And this is a group of men who have collectively been together for less than a year. This attitude, commitment, and collaboration between the players AND between the staff and players is only going to improve over time.

We have the right group of people in this organization, the means to keep it together, and the ability to reinforce it in a few ways this offseason.

This isn't an accident or luck. We are NOT going to let the Hawks beat us with threes. They just asked LeBon about how the team has disrupted the Hawks' initial actions and forced them into ISO ball which in turn has taken away their ball movement which led to so many of their threes this year, and LeBon laughed as if saying, "I'm not going to tell you our gameplan."

The Cavs have the best three-point defense in the playoffs (29% allowed).

JR is allowing 19% (who the hell saw JR being one of the best if not THE best closeout wing defenders on threes??)

James is allowing 24%
Shump is allowing 26%

Blatt and staff have done a remarkable job establishing a defensive philosophy and then implementing it.

Hm, Steve Perry.

Blatt commands a room. He's also commanding the court and the players on both teams. Our players are great and we do have the best player on the planet, but all teams need that coach who knows how to lead men. Further, not just any o'l coach would be able to lead a team with LeBron on it. We know this. Been there done that. Oh sure, LeBron is a leader and a good one, but I think even LeBron is recognizing just how good a leader Blatt is. No team can play this elite defensively without a head coach leading them on.

For the first time since Love went down, I actually believe we can beat the Warriors (or at least have a chance to do so). After this Game 2 and the confidence Blatt and LeBron are showing, I believe.

Even if Kyrie is dinged up.

I can't believe I wrote that.

People who also need some serious credit right now for sticking to their guns this season:

Dan Gilbert
David Griffin

They took down the mutiny attempt and stood firm behind Blatt. Thank goodness for that.

I can't believe the run we're on. It's amazing.

Wait that lineup is+42 in the playoffs??

So it's not, in any way, a fluke?

That's four times as efficient as gsw this year

Wow, just wow--what a performance. The best part was right before the tip, Blatt, LeBron and the rest looked so damn confident as if they EXPECTED to win.

Our starting lineup of Delly/Shump/James/TT/Moz was +45 per 100 possessions this regular season, the best 5 man unit the NBA that played at least 40 minutes. This lineup has shut every team it has played down and did so again tonight. What's more impressive, this lineup makes 11 more three pointers than its opponents over 100 possessions (the Delly/Shump/JR/James/TT is making 14 more three pointers per 100 possessions). It shuts down opponents' threes and makes open threes, the key to modern basketball.

Our playoff lineup of Delly/Shump/Smith/LeBron/TT is +43 per 100 possessions this post season and did well again.

I loved how Blatt developed these defensive lineups in the regular season; these lineups began second quarters and almost always either extended leads or gave us leads, and to me, Blatt seemed to relish coaching these lineups the most.

Just fantastic. It helps to have one of the handful of greatest players ever, but Blatt has completely out-coached Bud, and I hope he gets the recognition he so richly deserves.

Guys -- there was no 'mutiny attempt', can we retire that narrative?

The key to everything was the Griffin trade. It was always a personnel issue, not an issue of either coaching or tension between players and coaches.

Ok, then I should call it "the media's portrayal of a mutiny attempt."

Whatever it was, it forced Gilbert and Griff to come out strong in favor of Blatt. And I'm glad they did, for the media critics and anyone in Cleveland who believed those stories.
